Laboratory of neuro-oncology and RNA therapeutics

Department of Neurosurgery, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston, MA.

PI: Pierpaolo Peruzzi, MD, PhD

A Postdoctoral Research Fellow position is available in the Peruzzi Lab in the Department of Neurosurgery at the Brigham and Women's Hospital. We are interested in several aspects of non-coding RNA biology, and their involvement in brain cancer development and resistance to therapy. Ours is a young and energetic laboratory, funded by multiple NIH grants as well as private foundations, and we are focused on defining the next groundbreaking therapy for brain cancer, based on our own patented technologies.

The project for the advertised position will seek to characterize a specific epigenetic program responsible for cancer cell adaptation and resistance to various stressors, and how this response can be blocked by artificial non-coding RNA transgenes which have been recently ideated in our laboratory. Optimization of delivery strategies, including virus-mediated, nanoparticle-mediated and exosome-mediated will also be sought.

Studies will include cellular and animal models, as well as use of clinical specimens for translational validation. This is an NIH-funded project.

Qualifications
Requirements:

1. Completion of graduate studies in molecular/cell biology

2. No more than 5 years since graduate degree

3. Experience with tumor models (in vivo/in vitro)

4. Collaborative attitude

Preferred:

  • Background in RNA biology
  • Experience with glioblastoma/brain tumor models
  • Familiarity with next generation sequencing and library preparation/analysis of bulk data.

  • 4. Interest in academic career and early research independence

    5. Eligible for training grants/foundation support.
