Providing a safe environment for everyone is the core tenet of our Safe Care Commitment. Across Mass General Brigham, employees are doing their part to ensure that the hospitals, clinics, practices and office spaces across our system are safe and ready.

Mass. Eye and Ear physicians are located at our main campus in Boston, and at our suburban locations in the greater Boston and Providence areas, across 21 locations.

The Paschalis' laboratory integrates biology, engineering, and translational medicine to study microglia and the impact of ocular trauma to the retina. The laboratory has been on the forefront of neuroglia research and artificial cornea development, investigating the implication of microglia and peripheral monocytes on retinal neurodegeneration as well as developing new keratoprosthesis devices for the correction of corneal blindness. Surrounded by highly motivated, multidisciplinary, and innovative research fellows and collaborators, we have implemented novel fate mapping techniques and in-drop single cell RNAseq technology to study the role and function of microglia in the CNS and paving the way to novel neuroprotective therapies. The laboratory leads the innovation program of keratoprosthesis, which already has two FDA approved artificial corneas implanted in more than 16,000 patients world-wide. The laboratory is situated at Schepens Eye Research Institute/ Mass. Eye and Ear, surrounded by extremely innovative teams of scientists, labs, and core facilities that provide a dynamic and intellectually stimulating environment to conduct high-end research.

We are now seeking highly talented individuals that are passionate about retinal neuroglia immunology as well as in translational medicine for in vivo studies to evaluate the impact of ocular surgery in retinal immune response and to be involved in a DoD funded study for the evaluation of a minimally invasive artificial cornea.

We seek to complement our group with fellows that have a deep interest and background in immunology, especially neuroglia, as well as animal research experience and surgery. Thus, a relevant background in the fields of CNS immunology, animal models, and/or eye surgery would be beneficial for this position.

Qualifications
Interested scientists with a PhD and/or MD with relevant research background are considered. Compensation is commensurate with experience. Candidates should have a good proficiency of English, be able to work well in a team. Postdoctoral fellows will be able to enroll in a dedicated postdoctoral training program at Harvard Medical School.

.
