Job Summary:

MAPMG is seeking to hire a Research Program Manager to support the Director of Research Programs (Genetics, Liver Health, LGBTQ+ Health, Physician Research) in the design, implementation, and maintenance of highly visible and multi-faceted clinical care projects and programs. This individual implements and sustains high-priority projects/programs within clinical care operations and research – activities considered core to the Learning Health System model. The Research Program Manager will support the Liver Health clinical care and research program, LGBTQ+ health programs, genetics initiatives, and other health care programs as needed by the executive sponsor.

This position offers a hybrid work arrangement with the expectation to come into the office one day per week. This position will be based in Rockville, MD. Applicants must be local or willing to relocate to the Washington D.C., Maryland, or Virginia area.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and maintain projects/programs that are part of the Learning Health System model, defined as projects/programs that cross the clinical care delivery and research divisions. Projects assigned are regional and involve multi-functional areas and/or span across clinical service areas. Current projects are in the areas of infectious disease, genetics, and LGBTQ+ care and include the following departments: research, primary care, gastroenterology, infectious disease, and genetics
  • For projects in the implementation phase, the individual will lead all aspects of the implementation including designing the tools (electronic health record and educational), educational approaches, and spread across the region. For projects in the maintenance phase, the individual will manage ongoing quality improvement cycles to improve performance on key metrics and bring new evidence (clinical and research) into the program over time
  • Collaborate with executive leaders, physician leaders, and research colleagues
  • Oversees all aspects of assigned projects/programs independently
  • Serve as the subject matter expert as questions on the project/program arise
  • Become familiar with EPIC electronic medical record tools such as registries, alerts, and reports to meet project/program/research goals

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree is required
  • Master’s Degree in business, hospital/healthcare administration, public health, or a related field; PhD is a plus
  • Minimum of three (3) years of healthcare expertise is required; Consulting experience is a plus
  • Must be familiar with health care models, concepts, practices, and procedures. Basic exposure to health care operations and project management best practices is required. No project management certification is required. Experience working with health care executives or physicians is a plus
  • Requires a tolerance for ambiguity; must be able to function with a high degree of uncertainty, unpredictability, and multiple competing demands. Must be able to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and be flexible during times of change
  • Must be detail oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent judgement, emotional intelligence, and initiative are required
  • Ability to elicit input and collaboration from a wide variety of sources, including executive leadership, physicians, research colleagues, and other departments.
  • Interest in learning about the EPIC electronic heath record
