Job Title:Research TechnicianDepartment:Engineering | Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering

The Ohio State University, College of Engineering, Department of Materials Science and Engineering is seeking a Research Technician (Research Technician 2). This will be an Experienced level Research Technician role within the College. This is a Technical Track role where the work will be achieved through individual efforts as well as participation through project teams. The work will be technical and operational in nature. The Manager will provide the Research Technician with clearly established guidelines and procedures.

Minimum Required Education is bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Candidate must have 1-2 years of relevant research experience with 2-4 years of relevant research experience preferred.

Candidate should l be proficient technically as well as operationally within the Research/Laboratory environment. Individual will continue to develop their confidence and knowledge in more advanced technical and operational areas through on the job training and tenure within the role. Individual may serve as an informal resource for Undergraduate Students and Undergraduate Student Employees. Individual will rely upon their Manager and more experienced Researchers (Research Associates) for guidance and training when needed. General support and instruction will be provided to the Research Technician for routine work within the Department and more detailed instruction and guidance will be provided when appropriate. Will log data results for further analysis and communication.

Specific Research Areas that the Research Technician will be involved in will include: 1) perform animal studies such as cells preparation, implantation, injection, monitoring tumor, body weight, samples collection or harvest, samples analysis. 2) assist other animal related activities such as monitoring mouse. 3) conduct routine techniques such as molecular biology, assays, Western blot, PCR, tissue section and staining, flow cytometry, IVIS, MRI, uCT, and others. 4) assist in laboratory maintenance such as ordering, receiving, EHS items. 5) other duties as assigned.

Required Education:

Bachelors Degree in Veterinary Medicine, Biology, or a related Field

Required Experience:1-2 years of experience in animal studies and post treatment analysis and experience conducting routine lab maintenance and techniques.
