Job Title: Residential Serviceman

Reports to: Residential Division Manager

Location: Des Moines, IA

FLSA Status: Full-Time / Non-Exempt / Union

Position Description. Our Residential Serviceman Electricians are dedicated to providing short-order service and warranty calls for residential homes within the Central Iowa region. This position requires an individual driven to customer satisfaction, interfacing with customers in both expectations and satisfaction. *Must be willing to join IBEW Local Union 347.*

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Work with dispatch and customer to determine scope of project and scheduling jobs
  • Travel to various project sites to resolve issues or develop a deeper understanding of the project and any issues at the point of installation
  • Troubleshoot equipment electrical systems and work with team to determine needs and materials
  • Schedule jobs according to materials, job lists and customer expectations
  • Install, repair, maintain and test residential electrical systems in full support of Baker Electric's safety and operational objectives
  • Coordinate with the customer at the completion of the job to verify completed work
  • Provide billing details and invoices to customer, as well as Residential Project Manager Assistant
  • Maintain confidentiality of work and any Baker Electric project knowledge
  • Escalate critical and/or sensitive issues to Project Managers or company leaders with recommendation for resolution
  • Other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS. To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Preferred Education and Experience (Knowledge)
  • 5+ years related experience; Preferred licensed electrician
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Completed a DOL/BAT apprenticeship program
  • Must have a valid driver license

  • Ability to work independently, scheduling work and prioritizing jobs
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to troubleshoot and provide accurate
  • Ability to install power systems, such as lighting, fire protection, security and data
  • Ability to build and install control panels and provide maintenance to systems
  • Experience finding and repairing faults in electrical apparatus and circuits
  • Ability to verify compliance and functionality of installations
  • Ability to manage material estimates

Physical Requirements (Ability)

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, see, talk, and hear. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, to reach with hands and arms, to climb or balance, to work off ladders, to maintain a standing position for long periods while performing work, and to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five (50) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must have the ability to navigate around job site locations autonomously.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
