Our diagnostic division is rapidly growing, and we are seeking a highly motivated, scientifically creative and team focused Scientist to support our teams as we develop a multitude of innovative state-of-the-art diagnostic products and continue to support our large on-market product portfolio.

This is an exciting opportunity to grow in a dynamic environment, with exposure to multiple diagnostic technologies, product development as well as on-market product exposure and work across global location and cross function.

Position Summary

The successful candidate will be working in a fast paced, agile and fast-growing team. The position is located in Union City, California, but the candidate will be part of a larger, global assay development organization with teams in Kalamazoo, MI, and Farum, Denmark. The position is laboratory based and focuses on hands-on development of chemistry-based diagnostic assays for analyte / disease detection in animals. The projects range from development of new products to R&D activities associated with on-market products.

The laboratory-based tasks include a wide range of technologies, including but not limited to novel chemistry definition and optimization, nanoparticle conjugation techniques and critical reagent characterization. The candidate will furthermore be responsible for some laboratory management tasks that will be shared with the local team.

The candidate will be involved in a multitude of experimental studies from beginning to end study design, execution, data analysis and interpretation. Data will be presented and discussed with the local and global team in team meetings, and the candidate will be expected to propose data-driven next steps for consideration by the larger team.

The successful candidate is a strong team player, highly organized, a strong communicator, hypothesis and data driven, detail oriented and willing to learn and explore new scientific venues as we continue to innovate and deliver state-of-the-art diagnostic products, while continuing to improve our on-market product portfolio.

Technical Skills Requirements

  • A solid technical understanding of chemistry, antibody and / or Molecular assay designs
  • A track record of effectively managing complex studies from design and study execution to data interpretation and proposal for next steps
  • Exhibit excellent laboratory skills such as accurate pipetting, chemical handling, protocol execution, laboratory safety and diligent equipment maintenance
  • Solid understanding of and experience with data analysis and statistical tools such as JMP, R, and / or Python
  • Diligent and accurate documentation of study execution and results
  • Detailed planning of next steps, organization of logistics including sequestering reagents, samples for testing, organizing equipment etc.
  • Strong and transparent communication is a must
  • An explicit sense of urgency and desire to deliver at high quality and in a timely manner
  • A strong, motivated and positive team player mentality is a must
  • Experience with on-market product support is highly desired

Education and Experience

Education: M.S. or equivalent training / experience in a relevant field. A minimum of 5 years' experience in animal research and / or a relevant laboratory science.
