  Payroll Clerk is responsible for assisting with processing the payroll for Knott's Theme Park, WaterPark and Hotel operations.  This

  involves being timely and effective in meeting all Corporate Payroll deadlines and ensuring compliance with Company Policies and

  Labor Laws.

How You'll Make A Difference:

  • Assist with weekly closing of time in Kronos for payroll processing and balancing hours and wages.
  • Assist with daily payroll processing of manual checks, special supplemental pay, payroll tip processing and assist associates with payroll questions regarding pay, accruals and deductions.
  • Assist with Manual Check Requests for stop payments, retro pay or termination pay.
  • Process Direct Deposits or make corrections as completed and submitted by employees.
  • Possess good communication skills.  Works directly with Cedar Fair HR and Payroll to resolve issues that may arise in
  •   the payroll system. 
  • Communicates with divisional management and employees regarding Payroll deadlines and concerns.
  • Acts as back‑up to the Payroll Supervisor.
  • Assists with special projects as assigned.
  • Provides guest service according to Cedar Fair standards when serving the guest or working with subordinates, including
  •   initiating guest interactions, answering questions and giving directions.
  • Maintains cleanliness and safety in assigned work area and performs all duties in compliance with Cedar Fair Safety
  •    guidelines and requirements and reports all unsafe or unusual conditions to supervision.
  • Meets scheduling availability requirements, including nights, weekends, and holiday periods to meet business needs.
  • Meets Cedar Fair's attendance requirements as outlined in Cedar Fair's attendance policies.
  • Adheres to Cedar Fair's Rules of Conduct including specific costuming and grooming standards as outlined in Employee
  •    Guidelines and other park/division specific policies and procedures.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

We're Looking For:

  • Knowledge of payroll accounting, Kronos system, employee benefits, state and federal withholding requirements, vacation and sick accruals, and CA payroll labor laws.
  • Knowledge of Excel is required.
  • BS in Accounting preferred, but not required
  • Previous Payroll or general accounting experience and/or college Accounting courses preferred.
  • Skill in data entry, 10‑key by touch, superior communication skills (oral and written), and ability to work well with others in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Knowledge of accounting concepts and familiarization with computer systems.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheets and word processing applications (Excel and Word).
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holiday periods to meet business needs.
  • Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law.
  • Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law.
