Position Overview

Clients will use NPD's data services for strategic planning, market sizing, consumer targeting, pricing, new product development, competitive analysis, and retail distribution and product placement. This is a rapidly expanding business with exciting opportunities for a skilled senior sales professional.

We are open to have this role anywhere - preferred in Boulder, CO, Port Washington, NY or Virtual

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Achieve/exceed annual sales and territory revenue quotas.
  • Aggressively prospect across a number of industries to identify and close new client business for NPD's Sports products and services.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies and plans, with a consultative sales approach, that requires c-level selling along with creating solutions based on a thorough understanding the prospect's organization, goals, objectives and business opportunities and issues.
  • Work collaboratively with sales and client service people across various NPD Practices (industries) to drive new business.
  • Partner with marketing to develop targeted campaigns to generate leads and sales.
  • Attend trade shows and industry meetings to develop new relationships and prospects for the Sports Practice.
  • Identify client opportunities and address business issues through a deep knowledge of client's industry and business challenges/opportunities.
  • Partner with NPD client service teams to lead and support up-sell opportunities and renewals with some existing clients.
  • Provide feedback on client and product requirements and needs to the Practice head and Product teams.


Qualifications:
  • 8+ years sales experience, with an established track record in hunting and closing new business and achieving monthly sales goals.
  • Market Research Industry experience highly preferred.
  • Well versed in leveraging a B2B consultative solution-sales process.
  • Experience in a syndicated market research industry a strong plus; experience in selling custom research a plus.
  • Experience in retail marketing and/or merchandising a plus.
  • Experience in one or more sports product categories a strong plus.
  • Excellent negotiation skills, including the art of persuasion and creativity.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Strong presentation and follow-up skills.
  • Proven ability to analyze customer needs and goals to assist in generating thoughtful, creative proposals that exceed customer expectations and expand revenue opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain long-term relationships at C+ levels.
  • Expert in all MS Office products (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Must be able and willing to travel up to 50%.
  • BA/BS degree, MBA a strong plus.
