Overview

The Corporate Senior Accountant will play a critical role in maintaining the Company's general ledger to ensure all business transactions are properly recorded and reported consistently, applying the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) controls under the Company's SOX framework and the Company's internal accounting policies. The Senior Accountant will also provide support to our financial reporting, treasury, tax and budgeting efforts.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepare and record journal entries and help maintain the Company's general ledger on a continuous basis
  • Assist the Senior Director of land budgeting and accounting with the preparation of inventory schedules
  • Assist with the month-end close process, including generation and analysis of resulting information
  • Perform account analysis, balance sheet reconciliations, and bank reconciliations
  • Review and process expense reports and receipts submitted by employees on a weekly basis ensuring compliance with the Company's policy
  • Compile and organize all corporate accounting records in support of management reports, SOX controls, and external reporting
  • Assist department heads with the preparation of budgets and forecasts
  • Support the treasury function with daily cash management
  • Assist the Financial Reporting Director with the SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K, etc.) and other ad hoc requests
  • Interact routinely with senior management, various department heads and central accounting to assist in providing actionable information
  • Prepare ad hoc reporting, analysis and special projects as requested


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
  • 2-5 years of experience; homebuilding industry experience preferred


Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge of MS Office products, specifically Excel
  • Knowledge of general ledger software (JD Edwards a preference)
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize such tasks
  • Work effectively in a team environment and meet deadlines
  • Able to work independently and be able to adapt in a rapidly changing corporate environment
