Position Summary

The Senior Accountant is the lead for performing complex accounting activities to record, analyze and monitor financial information. The Senior Accountant prepares financial reports in a manner that ensures accuracy and compliance with company accounting policies. The Senior Accountant maintains the fixed asset subledger. This position acts as the lead resource for accounting and general administrative staff and is responsible for a broad array of accounting duties.

Essential Responsibilities

• Oversees and prepares journal entries for entry into the general ledger system on a monthly basis by collecting necessary data, analyzing and/or allocating costs and preparing audit train support for the journal entries.
• Analyzes general ledger accounts for accuracy; analyzes accrual accounts to ensure proper accruals.
• Prepare and distribute budgeted and real time forecasted capital expenditure reports.
• Reconcile the fixed asset subledgers to the general ledger control accounts
• Prepare reports and analysis on fixed assets for insurance and other purposes.
• Collects and analyzes financial data and prepares monthly combined financial statements and reports. Performs additional analysis for explanatory text required for reports and statement. Coordinates preparation of monthly financial package and reviews for accuracy.
• Participates in monthly financial meetings for discussion and review of monthly financial reports.
• Lead role in the preparation of year-end closings. Prepares annual long-term and short-term financial statements in compliance with accounting guidelines. Assists in the preparation of working papers for annual audit.
• Provides guidance and training to Accounting personnel for proper internal and external financial accounting procedures and their application.
• Assists with the preparation of annual budgets, updates, and strategic plans assigned areas. Coordinates preparation of monthly combining entries to combine financial results.
• Prepares quarterly consolidation report for consolidation.
• Assists with the maintenance and application of internal controls.
• Prepares basic financial reports in a timely and accurate manner; and completes individual analytical projects in a satisfactory manner given abstract project guidelines.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• Associates or Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
• 7 years plus experience in related position
• Experience mentoring employees
• Excellent customer service and organizational skills
• Strong analytical skills
• Highly detail oriented and process driven; data entry and data manipulation will be central to the role
• Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• Ability to complete projects and assignments with minimal supervision
• Strong organizational skills and ability to work in high-volume, fast-paced environment
• Ability to work effectively, cooperatively and efficiently within a team environment
• Grasps concepts quickly and has good follow through skills; adheres to work schedule and follows through on challenges as they arise; maintains a positive outlook.
• Competence in common computer applications including MS Office, strength in Excel is required; prior experience in accounting systems preferred.
