The Senior Business Analyst, Global Transparency Operations is part of the overall Global Assurance and Reporting Services within the Global Business Shared Services organization, aligned to Finance and responsible for fulfilling AstraZeneca's external payment disclosure obligations across Europe, United States (US), and all new International Emerging Markets.

Working in a complex, matrixed high activity environment, the Senior Business Analyst will be responsible for supporting the Emerging Market Lead in execution of Onboarding Strategy delivering end-to-end market-specific payment transparency solutions meeting law/regulation and analytic requirements, partnering with IT partners ensuring solution adheres to quality, data privacy, and compliance standards and best practices.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Translate business requirements into functional and technical design specifications, developing and executing against testing strategy, coordinating deployment activities across multiple technical teams
  • Knowledge of AstraZeneca's internal systems that contribute to a disclosure report (for example, the financial ERP system SAP, the meal and expense reimbursement system Concur, meeting management system Veeva Meeting, MDM systems for unique customer identification - US Healthcare Master/ROW Reltio)
  • Serve as the subject matter expert in the Global ASPEN system (custom in house built Aggregate Spend platform built to support transparency) architectural design, integrations, and liaise with technical support teams and IT business partners for any system changes
  • Provide process analysis and requirement specification support globally across the Americas, EMEA, and AsiaPAC regions of AstraZeneca in alignment with the Global Payment Transparency onboarding strategy focusing on Emerging Markets
  • Compilations of initial payment transparency disclosure report in required localized format within predefined timelines to ensure accurate and timely reporting across all newly onboarded International Emerging Markets (i.e. Mexico, Israel, Romania, New Zealand, etc.)
  • Execution of data reconciliation efforts and quality checks in partnership with local market contacts to monitor completeness and accuracy of reports throughout execution of onboarding process period
  • Partner with other Payment Transparency Disclosure Team Leads in execution of knowledge transition of newly onboarded markets requirements and overall market business process as it relates to data collection strategy, consent/pre-disclosure, disclosure within local market, metric derivation
  • Provide operational consultancy support in the collection and processing of reportable spend as needed for newly onboarded markets and 3rd parties to ensure complete, on-time and accurate filings
  • Assist in the development and implementation of relevant data metrics and analytics to monitor compliance in use of coding, application functionality, and overall data quality as well as provide insights to the business regarding data trends
  • Respond and support queries from management and key stakeholders as needed
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects and other system enhancements aimed at improving processes across the team and overall data quality
  • Support internal and external audits of payment transparency data, e.g., IRO and Internal Audit, as necessary
  • Support driving and embedding a culture of ethics, integrity and compliance
  • Participate in policy meetings and training on an as-needed basis

Business Analyst/Project Management Components:

  • Collaborate across all functions and service delivery partners as well as IT Business Partners, Emerging Market Leaders, and Global Payment Transparency Leaders to ensure optimal service delivery is achieved
  • Prioritize technical solution delivery effectively to meet business needs and achieve milestone Payment Transparency disclosure reporting
  • Provide consultation with customers to support and balance the needs for system management including planned and unplanned periods of downtime along with assessing and mitigating any impacts to business operations
  • Assist coordinating competing project demands and timelines of other initiatives external to Global Payment Transparency, yet imperative to improve processes, capabilities, and/or technology across AstraZeneca
  • Manage collation and analysis of business information, consolidation and maintenance of up-to-date procedural documentation
  • Support or lead initiatives around MDM management and cleansing initiatives supporting Emerging Market Onboarding activities
  • Support monitoring of progress of initiatives and work streams through scorecards and metrics
  • Liaise appropriately and proactively coordinate with key stakeholders to deliver assigned responsibilities

Minimum Specific Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree (ideally Engineering, Computer Science, or other technical discipline) or equivalent experience
  • 5 years experience
  • Proven business/technical experience and knowledge of AstraZeneca's custom-built Transparency Platform Global ASPEN is required
  • Experience prioritizing Application Development demand covering a complex integrated platform to deliver solutions including source systems such as (but not limited to) SAP, Veeva, Concur, Snaplogic, MSTR, Python, etc. is required
  • Experience working with and/or managing IT Providers or Business Relationship Management role is required
  • Technical proficiency in applicable technologies (reporting capabilities, databases, system architecture, interfaces, other)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of SAP, and purchase to pay systems / processes, Procurement
  • Understanding of payment transparency principles
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle competing projects simultaneously
  • Strong ethical, collaborative, innovative and customer-centric skills
  • Ability to travel on occasion (minimal) and flexibility to accommodate global working hours

Preferred Background:
  • Experience in or with the biopharmaceutical industry or a consulting firm working with pharmaceutical clients
  • Experience and demonstrated knowledge in a variety of software development methodologies
  • Understanding of Research and Development (R&D) and/or Commercial operations
  • Working knowledge of / experience with payment transparency requirements in Europe (EFPIA), the US (Open Payments or formerly Sunshine Act), and International
  • Global / cross-cultural experience
