WELL+GOOD: Creating a culture and community of wellness.

Trusted, influential, and famously trend-setting, Well+Good defines and demystifies wellness for a growing global community. Well+Good works to inform, empower, and educate communities and individuals in the many ways your day-to-day impacts your ability to live well. We believe that wellness and health should be attainable for all, while working to challenge the systems and barriers that prevent that from becoming a reality for many.

We are looking for a Senior Commerce Editor to help us develop and lead our editorial commerce content strategy across all platforms, driving audience and business growth.

A big vision calls for a big job. As we grow, our need for a Senior Commerce Editor grows with us. NY or LA preferred.

Leaf Group is a house of brands, creating and cultivating digital-first companies in growing lifestyle categories: Fitness & Wellness (Well+Good, Livestrong.com); Home & Decor (Hunker, Society6, Deny Designs), and Art & Design (Saatchi Art, The Other Art Fair). Additionally, we have performance focused brands in key categories such as Travel, Pets, and DIY (OnlyInYourState, Cuteness, eHow). Our media and marketplace brands are authentic and authoritative, reaching a large and growing passionate audience.

We work in a fun, collaborative environment that is diverse, adventurous, and open-minded. We look for proactive, accountable people focused on continuous learning and growth to push themselves and our businesses forward. Check us out here.

You'll Report To: Executive Editor

A typical day as a Senior Commerce Editor might include:

  • Work with the audience and business development teams to develop and guide strategy for Well+Good's commerce-focused content in order to fulfill audience and commerce revenue goals
  • Oversee commerce content creation from start to finish, holding it to our brand's high editorial standards: providing insights to the team to guide pitches, approving pitches, and editing and publishing content
  • Lead a growing team of commerce writers and editors
  • Develop and test new, commerce-focused editorial formats
  • Use data to identify sales trends from various different e-commerce platforms and partners
  • Collaborate with the audience and business development teams to set and execute a promotion and distribution strategy for commerce and shopping content across all platforms, including email, social media, and search
  • Work with the business development team to use insights to curate collections and categories on the Well+Good Shop
  • Regularly analyze affiliate data and share best practices for shopping and commerce content with editorial leadership to inform decision-making surrounding Shop, affiliate, and editorial strategy
  • Work hand-in-hand with our product team to optimize the tools with which our commerce content is presented
  • Grow and maintain relationships with affiliate networks, merchants, and partners
You'll be successful if you are excited about shopping content-you are as eager to introduce readers to the latest wellness releases as you are to share products that will solve their problems and make their lives easier-and can call upon your experience as a leader in the e-commerce space in order to develop and execute a 360-degree editorial commerce strategy that will help us achieve ambitious growth and revenue goals.

What You Have:
  • 5+ years of digital journalism experience
  • Experience managing an e-commerce editorial team and/or interfacing with an affiliate commerce business team

  • Ability to analyze performance of new and evergreen content across different verticals, product categories, retailers and content types to optimize for revenue generation
  • A proven track record of achieving audience and revenue growth in the e-commerce space
  • A Rolodex of affiliate networks and partners to call upon
  • Expertise in SEO best practices and strategy
  • Exceptional project management skills and organizational skills-must be able to consistently plan ahead while maintaining daily production of content
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Not afraid to wear multiple hats-no job is too small or too large
  • We're casual and informal but we work hard and work responsibly. Personal accountability goes a long way. We believe we are the change.
