Overview

We have an immediate opening for a Senior Data Architect to provide support to our Marine Corps client who supports the modernization and sustainment of Marine Corps supply and maintenance functions through the development of a web-based common user interface that provides an integrated and distributed logistics capability enabling leaders to effectively plan, manage, execute, and monitor logistics operations from both a garrison and a forward deployed environment.
Responsibilities

  • Develop and architecture and implement a solution that all enterprise data are pulled into Data Warehouse/BI platform
  • Design data structures (staging, intermediate staging, Dimension, Fact, Aggregate, views,) well-suited to meet the business requirements
  • Build a cloud-based Data Warehousing and BI platform using tools in AWS, Microsoft Power BI and other ETL tools
  • Provide data warehouse engineering support and work with the customer to visualize data via a dashboard (potential dashboard locations are - Power BI, Kabana, Jupiter playbook, Appian, and AWS Quick sight)
  • Design and develop Enterprise and departmental business intelligence and data warehousing solutions from ground up
  • Analyze all data from sources and develop logical models for various business intelligence sources
  • Plan and develop various database schemas
  • Develop analytics methods and processes
  • Identifies appropriate methods and tools to extract knowledge from data
  • Leverages large volumes of data to answer challenges; prepares data for use in predictive and prescriptive modeling (data cleansing)
  • Automates organizational work through scripts for data processing and analytics; develops and applies algorithms and machine learning methods
  • Applies analytic methods and software tools to design and develop analytic programs
  • Utilize Python to create mathematical models, statistics, graphs, and databases
  • Review epics to ensure consistent implementation across functional teams and alignment with delivery framework
  • Mining data from primary and secondary sources, then reorganizing said data in a format that can be easily read
  • Must possess a keen understanding of the customer's business requirements with the ability to apply industry methods and techniques to solve business problems effectively and with minimum risk
  • Must possess basic computer skills, to include a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including, but not limited to: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Power BI as required by job responsibilities. Knowledge of at least one scripting language (e.g., Python) and/ or one statistical software package (e.g., R) is a plus
Qualifications
  • Minimum SECRET clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related field, or 8 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of related experience in supporting large complex projects
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in design and implementation of ETL framework for complex data warehouse projects using AWS Redshift, BigData, Hadoop or similar platforms
  • Demonstrated success leading virtual teams in a complex, fast paced, and challenging environment
  • Knowledge of Power BI, Kabana, Jupiter playbook, Appian, and AWS Quick sight a plus
  • Excellent knowledge of relational data modeling (ERD), SQL and data warehousing
  • Experience in multiple database platforms, including MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, etc.
  • Excellent knowledge of multiple relational data warehouse platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Teradata, Oracle, DB2, etc.)
  • Strong working knowledge of visualization tools including Microsoft Power BI
  • Experience in building data lakes and data marts by working with each business unit and building high impact BI reports
  • Prior experience developing, integrating, maintaining, monitoring, and performance tuning of ETL, data pipeline, API, data extract, and ad hoc queries
  • Expert level understanding of ETL fundamentals and building efficient data pipelines
  • Proven experience leading design, development, and implementation of software systems, applications, and related products
  • Some knowledge of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), services/micro services, service bus, application program interface (API) development, API gateway, data management, and/or application cloud migration
  • Some knowledge of FEDRAMP, FEDRAMP+, and related cloud computing architectures, services, and requirements
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language
  • New technology awareness and research skills
  • Familiarity with DON Fleet command structure
  • Familiarity with DON network architecture
