Who are we looking for?

Our office in Dallas, TX is looking to bring onboard a Senior Electrical Engineer. In this role, you will perform and lead engineering and design teams for the electrical field on multi-discipline projects in the industrial, utility, private, and public sector markets.

Working with an energetic and hard-working team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Performs, leads, and oversee the work of project teams within the Electrical field to achieve project milestones and objectives including allocation of tasks, setting priorities, coordinating, and supervising the daily activities of the team, and monitoring and reporting progress on assignments.
  • Ensures company and client standards are implemented and adhered to within assigned project team.
  • Uses discretion within set boundaries (operating procedures, processes, standards) to implement own tasks within a broader job area, and coordinates activities with others across teams to achieve defined project deadlines / targets in the most effective and efficient way.
  • Develop designs, specifications, calculations, and project work for electrical power systems
  • Draws on professional knowledge and standard process to define efficient solutions for moderately complex problems without the benefit of defined procedures.
  • Develops the business by maintaining client relationships and ensuring client loyalty and repeat work through excellent customer service and delivery.
  • May perform some projects in the role of an owner's engineer.
  • Leads the development and work hours estimates of the Electrical Engineering & Design portion of proposals.
  • Works with the marketing team to build and give technical presentations to existing or potential clients.
  • Trains and mentors staff.
What you will bring to the team:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited school.
  • 10 to 20 years of engineering and design experience with industrial or utility power systems.
  • Experience as an engineering project lead or electrical team supervisor.
  • Professional Engineer license (NCEER). Qualifications and ability to acquire state licensures as needed to support project work.
  • Evaluates safety, quality, and project risks to scope, schedule, and budget immediately.
  • In-depth knowledge of high voltage air-insulated substations and/or medium voltage industrial distribution substations
  • Ability to read and understand protection one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, breaker control schematics, and relay logic diagrams
  • Experience with one of the following software: ETAP, SKM, PSCAD
  • Strong written and oral communications skills. Ability to conduct meetings and presentations with clients and design team members
  • Is proactive in forecasting and identifying changes in workload within own team and collaborates with the Business Group Leaders and Market Leaders to secure work.
  • Evaluates and communicates in a timely manner quality concerns and non-conformances to department and project management.
  • Professional Engineer (Texas, United States)
  • NCEES Record Holder
  • Knowledge of electrical codes & standards, specifically IEEE, NEC and NESC.
  • Familiarity with US electrical transmission, distribution or generation systems, standards, asset management and NERC criteria
  • Experience in design solar and/or wind farms is a plus.
  • Experience with overhead line design a plus.
  • Experience publishing & presenting technical papers within the Power Industry is a plus.
