Senior Finance Generalists perform a hybrid of complex finance work, encompassing a range of specialties, such as accounting, budget, payroll, financial aid, financial analysis, purchasing, or treasury. Senior Finance Generalists assume more responsibilities that require deep analysis. They are distinguished by years of experience, depth of institutional knowledge, and sophistication of expertise. Work is conducted independently, and Senior Finance Generalists are responsible for training and mentoring emerging finance professionals.
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, University of Virginia School of Medicine, seeks applicants for a Senior Finance Generalist to join its administrative team in the new UVA Orthopedic Center on Ivy Road. Applicants should possess a comprehensive understanding of fund accounting, and some experience with post-award management to insure compliance of all applicable policies and procedures is preferred. The selected candidate will also serve as a resource to faculty and staff on all applicable policies and procedures.
Applicants must be highly organized, and detail-oriented as the selected applicant will need to record and report financial and budget data clearly and accurately. Excellent analytical ability, written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are also required. Applicants should have a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Preference will be given to applicants who have prior experience with financial management at UVA, and are experienced with University financial reporting tools such as UBI and Anaplan, which is used in the School of Medicine.
