Responsibilities

What do our Senior Manager Total Rewards do?

The Manager of the Total Rewards function will lead the overall design and management of the benefit, rewards and recognition and compensation programs across the organization. This strategic position is responsible for leading a team in designing, planning, implementing and communicating a comprehensive total rewards strategy program for the organization that will attract, reward, motivate and retain talent. This key role will manage a variety of benefit and compensation related activities including the total reward philosophy across North America to ensure that the programs remain competitive and conform to current compensation strategies. The Manager will engage with key leadership positions to ensure that all program's support business initiatives and cultivate a diverse, talented, and engaged workforce.This role also provides consulting services to the business as well as drives business performance goals regarding compensation programs.

Primary or Key Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Manages at least 2 full time exempt direct reports. Management responsibilities include, but are not limited to hiring, coaching, skills development, recognition and rewards, staff productivity and performance management to include disciplinary actions up to and including termination.
  • Sets the strategic direction on employee compensation, rewards & recognition, health and welfare programs and retirement plans across North America.
  • Develops and continually advances compensation and benefit strategies to align with the business and ensure the right mix and offerings are available to create a comprehensive total rewards package.
  • Provides strategic vision for analyzing market competitive position, internal equity, compliance and program effectiveness.
  • Act as champion and change agent by anticipating HR-related needs and delivering value-added services for the benefit of teammates
  • Oversees and directs comprehensive communication to the field for all initiatives
  • Providing expertise as SME in total rewards principles, strategy and design
  • Plan, and guide the team in the design of Best in Class company programs and initiatives including Wellness and Rewards & Recognition.
  • Oversees and analyzes changes to state and federal laws pertaining to benefits, and recommends necessary or suggested changes to management.
  • Demonstrated experience coaching and communicating a total rewards culture by partnering closely with stakeholders and key business leaders.
  • Responsible for the preparation and communication of executive level summaries.
  • Collaborate effectively with the functional disciplines of the CoE (e.g., Market Intelligence, Executive Compensation, Compensation Strategy & Design) to provide guidance and share best practices with local teams along the end to end rewards process

What do you need?

  • Bachelor's degree required; degree in Human Resources or business-related field preferred. Master's degree preferred. In lieu of a degree at least 8 or more years of experience in the Compensation and Benefits field
  • Experience with organizations 20,000 or more employees is preferred.
  • At least 5 or more years leading a Total Rewards function
  • Must hold current CEBS, CCP or PHR certification
  • At least 5 or more years developing executive level programs including equity and benefit programs
  • Proven record of working optimally with cross functional teams and to facilitate collaboration across functional boundaries.
  • A minimum of 10+ years experience in Human Resources or related field; experience across multiple areas, including in-depth experience in employee relations and delivering on a wide range of HR initiatives across a large organization.
  • Strong leadership and prioritization skills and at least 5+ years of management experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrable experience in Health & Welfare and Compensation programs for US and Canada.
  • Experience developing and presenting analysis, strategy, and findings to Senior Company Leaders
  • Experience working in a collective bargaining environment is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to operate and influence cross-functionally at all levels
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving orientation with enthusiasm for digging into and solving cross-functional business, operational and organizational issues
  • Excellent listening skills
  • Must pass pre-employment background screen and drug test
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and pass motor vehicle record search
