The Senior Photolithography Engineer will work with a premier group of engineers and technicians at the cutting edge of optical coating manufacturing technology to build complex patterned and assembled optical components; supervise and support design and production of such optics while continuously improving equipment, materials, training and methods of fabrication. Higher yields, lower costs and new mechanical performance records will be the benchmarks of success. The Sr. Photolithography Engineer will lead and contribute to all aspects of custom thin-film filter manufacturing, including requirement definition, new product development process development and improvement, cost estimation and quoting, mechanical stress analysis, manufacturing instructions, fixture design, test plans, data analysis, documentation and final data packages.

You Will Have the Opportunity To:

  • Specify process for generating run files and run sheets. Provide process documentation and operating instructions
  • Develop, configure and optimize processes from inception through to start up and certification.
  • Develop best practices, routines and innovative solutions to improve production rates and quality of output
  • Design, run, test and upgrade systems and processes
  • Support Sales Engineer and Products Design Engineer with estimating and EM (Engineering Master) creation.
  • Work with Application Engineer and product Development Engineer on estimating masters.
  • Support resolving customer issues and concerns with 8D's.
  • Provide support for training and certification of Production Technicians, increasing knowledge and technical depth
  • Coordinate and implement quality control objectives, activities, or procedures to resolve production problems, maximize product quality, or minimize costs
  • Work with Safety to provide safe process and working conditions. Evaluate equipment and processes to identify ways to optimize performance or to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulation
Requirements:
  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in engineering or science discipline and 10 years hands-on photolithography experience (preferably in the Optics industry)
  • Demonstrated process engineering skills based on physics, optics, chemistry, materials science, electronics and photolithography fundamentals (including both wet and dry film)
  • Experience with optical coatings, precision dicing and micro assembly is highly desired
  • Optics and optical systems background a plus
  • Thorough knowledge of Photolithographic chemicals, processes, equipment, and technology required
  • Experience with lift off techniques for pattern generation of vacuum deposited thin film coatings
  • Experience with single and bi-layer, positive and negative tone resist
  • Experience with spin, spray, and dry film resist technology and equipment
  • Experience with EVG spray resist technology and equipment preferred
  • Familiarity with sputtered and thermally evaporated thin film coatings
The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Since Materion Precision Optics and Thin Film Coatings is a Department of Defense cleared facility, the candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. Citizen, a U.S. National, or a Lawful Permanent Resident of the U.S.

This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process.
