We are looking for a Sr. Software Architectto lead the definition and design of our architecture strategy for the expansion of existing and development of new projects for the Life Sciences suite of solutions. This is a very technical role that requires extensive IT experience, cloud technologies knowledge and be able to stay current with technology innovations and trends. The Senior Architect is a leadership role and is responsible for leading deep technical architecture discussions with Enterprise Architects, IT Management and Developers, while also clearly communicating the strategy to executive management and business leaders.

What you'll do:

  • Work with the Sr. Manager, Architecture to formulate the architecture strategy and create an agile roadmap for implementing the strategy
  • Demonstrate knowledge of cloud architecture (security, containerization, virtualization, orchestration, elastic scalability, etc.)
  • Develop solutions architecture and evaluate architectural alternatives for existing and new products
  • Define optimal design patterns and solutions for high availability and disaster recovery for applications
  • Advocate and define cloud architecture vision from a strategic perspective
  • Identify opportunities and provide assessment of new initiatives and migration of existing workloads to the cloud
  • Apply technical knowledge to define highly complex technology-based business solutions. Provide thought leadership regarding application design, architecture, and integration
  • Ensure all solutions exhibit high levels of performance, security, scalability, maintainability, and appropriate reusability and reliability upon deployment
  • Maintain technical skills and knowledge of market trends and competitive insights; collaborate and share with the technical community
  • Drive technical direction and architecture evolution via hands-on reviews and on-floor leadership
  • Develop deep relationships with business and IT decision makers to ensure a common understanding of the business and architecture strategy
  • Provide consultancy, leadership, and promotion of engineering best practices
  • Perform technical evaluations of new technology and acquisition candidates as required
  • Act as a conduit between business management, enterprise architecture, and the Engineering or Development teams
  • Work across/with Architects from different organizations
  • Introduce/trains teams with new technology
  • Problem-solve, involving leading teams in identifying, researching, and coordinating the resources necessary to effectively troubleshoot/diagnosecomplex project issues
What you bring to the table:
  • BA/BS in a related technical field; or the equivalent in education and work experience
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience spanning at least two IT disciplines, including technical architecture, application development, middleware, database management or operations
  • 5+ years of experience in software architecture
  • Expert level development skills in .Net, C#
  • Experience with Architecting, designing and developing applications on Azure
  • Strong experience with Azure enterprise implementations preferably in the Life Sciences sector
  • Designing and building applications using container and serverless technologies
  • Knowledge of Continuous integration technologies (e.g. Jenkins, Azure DevOps);
  • Experience and knowledge of scalable architectures using Azure App Service, API management, serverless technologies, micro service frameworks etc.
  • Demonstrated data architecture experience; experience with relational and noSQL databases
  • Knowledge of business process re-engineering principles and processes
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written), strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills applicable to a wide audience including senior and executive management, customers, etc.
  • Experience effectively interacting with and supporting multiple product development and delivery teams
  • Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ303 & AZ304) certification is a plus
