Working with general supervision, the Senior Engineer, Software is responsible for the analysis, design, development, implementation and support of systems. Supply Chain Technology (SCT) innovates to get physical and digital products to our customers quickly and efficiently. We build, support, and extend the systems that manage order fulfillment, transportation, warehouse operations, and inventory placement across our FCs and thousands of retail nodes. As you may have read in the news, our mission is to make GameStop the e-commerce leader in our space, and we're looking for software engineers with bold ideas to lead the way.

Prior experience in supply chain space is welcomed but not required. We have a broad range of problems requiring software solutions: Algorithmic, back-end solutions for optimizing shipping from a 3000+ node network, applications with UX that allows non-native English speakers or users with disabilities to excel on the warehouse floor, and integrating with conveyors and robotic solutions.

This is a remote or hybrid role with occasional travel to FCs and Dallas HQ.

Responsibilities:

  • Your primary activities are designing, implementing, and supporting software systems, with coding being the focus.
  • You are the technical owner of the set of services and applications in your team's space, coming up with innovative ways to create a better customer experience and drive product health.
  • You are expected to operate with a high level of autonomy, and your approaches reflect mature judgment and good design instincts.
  • You provide technical leadership through your ideas, design reviews, coding practices and conventions, and driving the SDLC.
  • You grow and mentor less experienced engineers.
  • You will collaborate with peer teams and build relationships with our business stakeholders to further our product and technical roadmaps.
  • You will support our systems in a dev ops model, driving monitoring and metrics, self-healing and DR strategies, and playbooks to minimize occurrence and impact of production incidents.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 6+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 4+ years of experience designing and implementing modern systems in production
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Java, Kotlin, Python, C#.
  • Proficiency designing and implementing RESTful web services at scale in production
  • Experience with SDLC processes like, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operational support.
  • Experience mentoring growing and advancing less experienced engineers.
