Position Overview

With over 50 years of innovation in market and consumer measurement, NPD is a world leader in retail sales reporting and analysis. More than 2,000 clients rely on NPD products to drive business decisions in over 20 industries and 19 countries around the globe.

NPD has always evolved with, and in anticipation of, changes in the retail landscape. Providing our clients with deeper insight across and within retail channels such as direct-to-consumer and e-commerce, and the intelligence they need to drive successful pricing and promotion strategies, are top priorities on our product roadmap.

In this new executive-level role, you will join our Product Management organization to lead a team focused on the products we provide to retailers around the world, our global strategies for DTC and e-commerce measurement, and other selected NPD services that track multiple consumer industries. You will become our thought leader in these critical areas, and will:

  • Consult with our Commercial teams as we enlist new sources of DTC and e-commerce data
  • Work closely with Product Managers across our client industries to guide, test, and launch new offerings using this data
  • Collaborate with our Retail Business Group to develop other new products for retailers
  • Represent our retail, DTC, and e-commerce strategies to our clients' C-suite as needed.


This is a hands-on role managing a small team that will be relentlessly focused on our cross-industry product strategies, planning, and execution. The ideal candidate will bring formal experience and training in product management, deep experience in retail merchandising and e-commerce, and a track record of successful service execution and delivery. The candidate should also be passionate about market research, data and analytics. Familiarity with both consumer market research products and retail merchandising is a must.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage and lead product development for our products for retailers
  • Partner with our Commercial and Product teams on strategies for DTC data recruitment
  • Work with our Global Product Management team members to lead strategy for incorporating DTC and e-commerce tracking into existing product lines
  • Uncover new audiences and define needs for new products and expansion opportunities with retail, cross-industry, and e-commerce data products
  • Provide the vision for evolving NPD's services to provide insight and data covering DTC, e-commerce, and retail planning
  • Oversee our roadmaps, planning, and execution in retail, DTC, and e-commerce product space and manage our retail and DTC Product Management team
  • Support client and industry communication as needed on our DTC strategy
  • Work with NPD leadership teams on DTC strategic account strategies and needs
  • Consult with Industry Advisor team to support DTC and e-commerce thought leadership


Qualifications:
  • 10+ years' executive & team management experience
  • 5+ years' experience managing retailer price, promotion, assortment and supply chain issues
  • 3+ years' running e-commerce for brand / merchant
  • Product management experience including familiarity with user inquiry, software user testing, and agile product development
  • Strategy and/or technical product experience in retail merchandising, promotion management, ecommerce, and/or big data/analytics applications
  • History of successful P&L ownership
  • Demonstrated experience in business development
  • Speaking presence/experience presenting at industry events
  • Able to develop engaging and impactful presentations that deliver strategic insight, tell a compelling story, and persuade an executive audience.
  • Undergraduate degree required; graduate certifications in retail and technology product management desired
  • Passionately curious, lifelong learner
  • Exceptional data analysis skills
  • Razor-sharp written and oral communication skills
  • Global experience is a plus
