Basic Function

LyondellBasell is staffing for Lead C02 Reduction Process Engineer for our LaPorte, TX Manufacturing Complex, located east of downtown Houston. Our LaPorte Complex consists an Olefin unit, Acetyls and VAM unit and several Polymers Technology units.

This is truly an exceptional opportunity for a high-performing individual with Process/Chemical Engineering and Leadership experience to join our La Porte manufacturing team. The Lead Process/Chemical Engineer will lead the site CO2 reduction project. The individual will collaborate with site leadership team, global engineering team, operations managers, and reliability managers to identify, recommend, and implement strategic projects to reduce CO2 emissions from the site and support corporate teams related to this effort.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Develop and support projects/programs which contribute to the profitability, reliability, environmental and safety integrity of the plant while meeting targets specific to the corporate CO2 reduction target.
• Evaluate existing processes to improve efficiency, reduce energy, and support sustainability.
• Evaluate alternate engineering solutions to improve existing plant operation or new future plants and offer a technically sound recommendation for the path forward.
• Support plant evaluations and management of change packages providing technology input and endorsement.
• Provide process design support for capital projects including Process Design Package preparation.
• Lead and coach less experienced engineers, as well as provide technical training to others.
• Effectively communicate technical recommendations and achievements both verbally and written.
• Incorporate process safety, environmental soundness and reliable operations principles and standards in projects and tasks.
• Work directly with outside engineering companies, vendors, contractors and project engineering as appropriate.

Min. Qualifications

• Solid understanding of unit operations and process safety management systems
• Relevant work experience with world-scale chemical and petrochemical process unit design and/or operations.
• Knowledgeable in the development of process design packages and related economics.
• Knowledge and experience with Olefins, Butadiene, Propylene Oxide, Methanol, and/or Aromatics processes is desired.
• Demonstrated expertise with Aspentech process simulation tools is desired.
• Process design experience supporting capital projects is desired.
• Candidates must have excellent leadership, ethics, teamwork, and communication skills with a results oriented commitment. The ability to manage multiple and changing priorities is essential.
• This position requires negotiating skills and the ability to resolve conflict across departmental lines to achieve objectives.
• Ability to prepare and deliver complex technical reports and presentations
• Ability to summarize conclusions and impacts to be clearly understood for decision makers.
• Ability to prioritize work based on the overall value to the organization
• Familiarity with MS Office and process simulation software.

Qualifications
• BS in Chemical Engineering minimum.
• 10 - 15 years of process engineering experience.
