Position Purpose:

Develops and modifies software applications for projects generally defined by Principal Investigator and project specifications. This includes developing, analyzing and modifying program logic, coding, testing, debugging, implementing and documenting applications for grant funded projects including open neuroinformatics solutions, data publishing platforms, and decentralized scientific digital object systems.

Required Qualifications - Education and Yrs Exp:

Bachelors plus 1-2 year(s) of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or ability to demonstrate equivalent proficiency in programming and software engineering.

Experience
  • 2 years relevant programming experience.
  • Experience with free and open source software development, cloud and local systems administration, and high performance computing jobs management.

Skills & Knowledge
  • Working knowledge of the Python.
  • Familiarity with git, GitHub and related development services.
  • Familiarity with virtualization/containerization solutions and cloud platforms.
  • Agility in the coding practice.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience

  • Experience working with/using software packaging and distribution systems.
  • Experience in code development on Microsoft Windows.

Description:

Code Development and Maintenance

  • Within the scope of projects generally defined by the Principal Investigator, design, implement, modify and thoroughly test, code necessary for projects' functionality with open source development using contemporary infrastructure for collaboration and platforms for distributing and deploying software and datasets, including containerized and cloud solutions.
  • Analyze, debug, and modify applications as necessary.
  • Develop and implement application and system improvements.
