Job Summary

The Software Engineer (Functional Test Development) will report into the Industrialization organization but will specifically support the Rack PDU (rPDU) line of business. Test Development activities will be focused on Factory Test of assembled Rack PDU products, certain component sub-assemblies (electronics), and Global Database storage and reporting of Test Data. A key responsibility of this position is the rapid Development of Factory Test Plans for Engineer-To-Order models and their flawless deployment to multiple Plants around the World.

This position is Responsible for Functional Test (electronics) and Factory Test (finished goods products) activities in the rack power distribution unit (rPDU) Line of Business. The Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain software using industry and internal best practices in one of three specialized areas: embedded systems, production support, or web-based applications. Tasks may include performing and/or leading conception, prototyping, development, enhancement, defect resolution, testing, documentation, and technical support of software systems from Project inception to Final Signoff, the Software Engineer is involved with the planning and execution of Test Development activities that ensure the delivery of quality rack PDU products from several manufacturing locations around the World.

Responsibilities:

  • Timely execution of New Product Development (NPDI) and sustaining Test Engineering activities including Design For Testability (DFT) Analysis.
  • Design, document, estimate, discuss and interpret specifications for new features and changes to existing functionality
  • Collaborate with Project Management office and industrialization Project Leaders to determine timelines, costs, testing cycle times, and other Planning Metrics.
  • Plan and communicate Timelines and Requirements for New Firmware/Software Deployments to Plants and Contract Manufacturers.
  • Facilitate Functional Test Fixture Definition and Deployment to contract Manufacturers, including Test Instructions, Facility requirements, Calibration schedules, Preventative Maintenance tasks, and Spare Parts.
  • Provide Test Plan support to rack PDU Business for New Product Development and Custom Products.
  • Continuously Improve Testing Cycle Times and Test record reporting mechanisms.
  • Compose and review Engineering Change Orders.
  • Consistently seek to improve knowledge and skills
  • Set individual Goals (OKRs) and provide ongoing status updates. Execute identified Developmental Tasks and Training.
  • Provide guidance, support and mentoring to other team members
  • Support ISO Quality System, Quality Policy and Continuous Improvement efforts
  • Ensure Execution of Administrative tasks (timekeeping, training, etc.)
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering accompanied by relevant Software Development experience
  • 3+ years of experience in Software Engineering field.
  • SQL database experience preferred
  • Familiarity with JSON and XML
  • National Instruments and/or LabVIEW certification is a plus
  • Functional Test Development and Factory Test experience is preferred
  • Excellent communications skills - both written and verbal
  • Experience working with cross-functional groups in multiple geographical locations
  • Experience providing effective technical leadership to other engineers
  • Able to work under minimal supervision and apply sound judgement
  • Oriented toward team success
  • Good verbal and technical writing skills
