Solutions Engineer

JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for an experienced Solutions Engineer to work in the Infrastructure team at Iron Bow. You will be part of a team that is responsible for researching, engineering, and implementing IT solutions for the internal IT organization supporting the Stillwater business. The ideal candidate will be experienced in a wide variety of technologies across multiple disciplines including cloud, security, networking and applications. Flexibility and ability to be able to work in a fast-paced environment is strongly encouraged. You must be able to work well both with a team and by yourself; and be self-motivated and able to independently start and complete tasks.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Research, design, recommend, document, install, and configure internal and customer facing systems and applications in a secure and supportable manner
  • Work with non-technical customers to gather requirements and develop a solutions requirements document
  • Manage multiple cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, Oracle, GCP, etc)
  • Leverage core Microsoft, Cisco, Cloud, and VMware technologies to minimize the number of tools and solutions to solve technology and process problems
  • Identify the need for technologies or process improvements, or opportunities for consolidation of solutions, and work with leadership to build effective business justification
  • Technologies include: Microsoft Exchange Online, Office 365 Suite, Azure, Cisco Jabber, Cisco Collaboration / WebEx,VMWare Horizon View, VMWare vCenter, VMWare ESXi, Other technologies as the opportunity arises
  • Design and implement monitoring, configuration management, and reporting functions that will support a hands-off environment
  • Define and document best practices and support procedures to provide to Tier 1 & Tier 2 staff
  • Provide after-hours support for Infrastructure related emergencies as required
  • Assist with hardware, firewall, telecom and software vendor evaluation, recommendations, and negotiations
  • Mentor / cross train team members on existing and new technologies
  • Carry out special tasks at Management's direction
  • Interact with customers and staff at the technical level, as required
  • Participation in Change Management process review changes being proposed to production environment for risk and impact
  • Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Familiarity with Virtualization Technologies (Cloud, VMWare ESX & Horizon)
  • Ability to balance technical requirements within budgetary constraints
  • Microsoft Certification (MCSE) or equivalent certification in relevant programs desired.
  • Advanced knowledge of Windows Server (2012/2016/2019) / Desktop Operating Systems (10/MacOS) / Linux (RHEL 7/8)
  • Previously responsible for full research and implementation of enterprise wide IT solutions
  • Familiarity with InTune, SCCM, Avanti, KACE, and other patch management solutions
  • SAN/NAS experience, familiarity with storage management, replication, storage protocols.
  • Experience with VOIP/Collaboration systems (CUCM, video infrastructure etc.)
  • A solid understanding of LAN/WAN networking
  • Linux/UNIX administration
  • Experience designing, building, and maintaining VMWare environments
  • Experience with cloud technologies (Azure/AWS)
  • Familiarity with SAML/ADFS/OKTA and Single Sign on methodologies
  • Familiarity with HTTP traffic analysis & packet sniffing utilities (i.e. WireShark,Fiddler,SAMLTracer,etc)
  • Active Directory user and group administration
  • Ability to troubleshoot network issues including back bone infrastructure issues
  • LAN Routing and Switching configuration and troubleshooting
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Flexible and able to adapt to a rapidly changing environment
  • Must be organized and have the ability to manage multiple projects of varying length and complexity
  • Positive, self-motivated individual who can complete tasks independently
  • Must be a team player
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • University degree in the field of computer science or management information systems or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 - 7 years equivalent work experience in a technical analytical position responsible for administering client/server environments.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
  • Red Hat Certifications (RHCSA / RHCE / Linux+ / Linux Certified Professional)
  • AWS / Azure Certification
  • VMWare Certification
  • MCSE preferred. MCSA or MTA is acceptable
  • CCNA, CCENT, Network+ or A+
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
  • Less than 10% and some local travel within the DC Metro area
