About the Position:

This position is responsible for assisting in the daily operations of the turf management department. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: the maintenance, repair, painting, fertilizing, spraying cultural practices and mowing the athletics fields and Intramural fields , fertilization, mowing, irrigation, field painting and preparation for athletic contests, game day set up for Ford Stadium and Wescott Field.

This role is an on-campus, in-person position.

Essential Functions:

  • Mowing athletic fields
  • Assisting with painting athletic fields
  • Fertilizing fields
  • Trimming/Edging/Blowing
  • Assisting with various cultural practices, basic irrigation work, basic equipment maintenance, hand watering, repairing/replacing sod, trash removal
  • Synthetic field maintenance


Qualifications

Education and Experience:

A high school degree, or equivalent, and a minimum of 1 year of work experience is required for this position.

Experience in the collegiate or professional athletic field maintenance is strongly desired.

Candidate must possess a TX driver's license and a clear MVR.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

The ideal candidate should have considerable knowledge of the practices, methods, materials, equipment and tools used in the maintenance of athletic fields. Some knowledge of effective supervisory methods and techniques is desirable. Knowledge of hazards and necessary safety precautions in the general labor and maintenance work is preferred. Candidate must demonstrate ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Candidate must possess strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and analyze problems, as well as devise solutions. Must also have strong organizational, planning and time management skills. Basic knowledge of Word and Excel applications are required.

Some evening and weekend work is required for scheduled work and emergency calls. Candidate must have the ability to work a flexible schedule.

  • Drives motorized equipment
