PayPal Payments Platform organization is looking for a Senior member of technical staff to write and manage code for our Forward money movement teams. Being one of the leaders in the FinTech industry, PayPal has built a complex and scalable platform to support the needs of the growing business. The platform serves $100+B in payment volumes across 200+ countries. The PayPal Platform is a suite of web services, which are used by internal and external developers to enable payments anytime, anywhere and anyway. Therefore, the evolution of this platform is integral to PayPal's long-term strategy. We are looking for a technical leader who will guide the team and develop highly scalable platform capabilities. Your visionary engineering thinking will be instrumental in raising the bar on the platform we deliver and enable the teams which depend on you.

Job Responsibilities:

• Identify, scope and lead large technical projects with broad reaching impact across many teams and key stakeholders in and outside payments

• Directly contribute to core interface design and write code. Serve as a role model for software design and scalable systems architecture by developing, sharing, and setting the quality bar for the payments platform

Uphold a quality first attitude and encore the same of you teams

• Advise payments leadership team on key technical considerations related to the future of our technology stack and product roadmap

• Thrive in a collaborative environment developing and executing against immediate and long term roadmaps and making effective tradeoffs considering business priorities

• Teach and mentor ICs and managers and enable growth for your team at large

• Guide critical decisions providing consideration for software best practices, over all system design, and numerous stakeholders' preferences and concerns

• Scrutinize and reason clearly about the technology and architecture choices we make in building platforms or products/services.

Job Requirements:

• You have a strong technical background, including 10+ years of experience with software engineering and designing large scale systems.

• You write high quality code. We work mostly in Java, C++, node.js. However, languages can be learned: we emphasize engineering skill over knowledge of a particular language or framework.

• Highly experienced with with HTTP, REST API's and competent designing and building web services/micro-services .

• Expertise in optimization of applications for maximum speed and scalability, troubleshoot and debug applications

• Expertise in rearchitecting systems to achieve order of magnitude improvement in reliability and performance

• Curious and always on the look out for new technologies to solve challenges effectively

• You have served as the technical lead for large complex projects that span multiple teams and functions.

• You work well cross-functionally and your co-workers at all levels and across all teams trust you.

• You prefer simple solutions and designs over complex ones, and have a good intuition for what will last and scale.

• You enjoy working with a diverse group of people with different expertise.
