General Summary:

This position is responsible for sampling, testing, and inspecting construction materials or elements in a field setting to ensure compliance with the supplier and/or owner specifications. Work one on one with accepting agencies. Coordinate QC sampling and testing on projects between third party QC firms and QA. Perform quality inspections on items of work and work with crews to resolve deficiencies prior to acceptance of work. Maintain inspection records for documentation of projects first time quality records.

Job Description:

  • Ensure compliance with the supplier and/or owner specifications by collecting and preparing construction material samples.
  • Sand cone density testing
  • Perform asphalt sampling and rolling patterns
  • Sample and test concrete for compressive strength, flexural strength, slump, temperature, unit weight and air content.
  • Pre-pour inspections
  • Train technicians on sampling, testing and inspection of construction materials to prepare them for additional certification.
  • Prepare and communicate testing and inspection results to supervisors to ensure quality control standards are satisfied and process changes can be implemented.
  • Participate in and promote Granite's safety procedures to promote a safe working environment.
  • Comply with OSHA and MSHA rules and regulations to perform duties in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Work Experience
  • 7+ years of related experience, required.
  • Regional or State Agency certification for material being sampled, tested, inspected, required
  • ADOT and FAA QC Experience

Knowledge Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive
  • Team player
  • Ability and willingness to consistently abide by Granite's Code of Conduct daily.
