We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Ph.D. scientist with strong immunology, cell biology and molecular background to join our Group within Integrated Bioanalysis in Gaithersburg, MD. The position will take a lead role in developing and implementing bioanalytical strategies for advancing our drug pipeline and working as the group representative in multidiscipline drug development teams.

The position is in our Integrated Bioanalysis Department which is part of the Clinical Pharmacology and Safety Sciences Group, and is responsible for providing high quality, decision-driving data using a variety of platform and novel technologies. Our team primarily focusses on early R&D bioanalyses along with exploratory biomarkers assessments applicable to all therapeutic areas. We have a diverse array of scientists working across many technologies to ensure delivery of critical assays, and data analysis that drive go/no go decisions and ensure the right combination of medicines get to the right patient, in the right dose, and at the right time.

What you'll do

  • Develop and implement bioanalytical strategies to support drug programs (e.g., Oncology, T cell circuits and engagers, CART and gene therapy, Respiratory and Immunology, Cardiovascular, Renal and Motabolism) from lead candidate selection through clinical trials.
  • Lead pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and biomarker activities in the lab to better understand drug actions and their associations with clinical response.
  • Design, develop and interpret cell-based and molecular-based assays.
  • Build a platform of in vitro immunogenicity assessment for high risk biologics and new modalities (e.g., CAR-T, T cell engaging antibody circuits) to enable lead selection and assess the potential risk of cytokine release syndrome for regulatory submission.
  • Represent the department on multidiscipline drug development teams, thus ability to support other technologies, especially cell-based functional flow and molecular-based assays will be a benefit.
  • Take a lead role in pushing the boundaries in determining lead drug candidates and facilitating global clinical trials.

Required for the role
  • Ph.D. or an exceptional non-PhD scientist in immunology, cell Biology, or other related scientific discipline and post-doctoral experience in related areas .
  • Strong background in immunology, cancer biology and experience with diverse immunologic assays and molecular techniques.
  • 0-10 years of experience in academia or industry coming from projects that developed advanced immune cell function and molecular-based (e.g., human T cell, flow cytometry, RNA) assay development and data interpretation skills. The level of the position can be adjusted based on the number of years experience.
  • A high level of independence and with an ability to develop hypotheses and execute analysis plans for pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics and proteomics biomarker data.
  • Attention to details, good communication and collaboration skills. Outstanding record-keeping skills are critical for success.
  • An ability to think and act creatively- independently, and within collaborations.

Desirable for the role
  • Experience with molecular techniques and applications for anti-sense, oligonucleotide delivery system.,
  • Experience with advanced data analysis tools for analyzing and visualizing biomarker data (highly valued).
  • Experience with broader Immunoassays e.g. ELISA, multiplex assays, Elispots etc.
  • Knowledge of GxP regulations.
