Position Summary:

As a member of the R&D team the Sr. Test Engineer will contribute to the full life cycle of software products in a fast-growing organization. The ideal candidate will be self-driven, experienced in test automation and should be capable of making the changes necessary to increase the automation coverage and improve the test framework. He/she leads the testing effort. The ideal candidate recognizes the value of effective testing that is traceable to specifications and is compliant with regulatory expectations.

This Engineer will ensure the quality promise is upheld by measuring quality performance and making sure QA resources, tools, and processes are available to those who need them. They will facilitate communication between functional teams and work closely with team members to achieve results aligned with the overall project goal.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work with the development team to ensure that product specs are well developed for products under development.
• Throughout the development lifecycle, participate to build quality into products by developing test protocols against product specs.
• Build and improve test-driven development environment
• Work with product development engineers to ensure that products are developed with test in mind
• Participate in building quality into products by writing automated tests, and performing tests including ad hoc testing throughout the development cycle
• Review test plans and protocols and execute test protocols
• Contribute key knowledge and expertise to the overall product team
• Contribute to release process improvements

Required Qualifications:

• 2-4 years of hands-on experience with Data testing and hands on knowledge of python or other structured programming language is required using Object Oriented methodologies.
• Strong experience with SQL and Relational databases and scripting languages such as Shell, Python or other scripting languages
• Strong understanding of API Testing, micro services, and distributed systems in cloud environments
• Experience working within a wide variety of automated testing frameworks, including Gerkin and Robot framework
• Two or more years of Agile development and test development experience
• Strong experience with automated test development in API testing is required
• Must have strong desire to interact with many different software development teams to develop, test, deploy and report on product performance, quality, security and stability.
• Must have strong desire to seek continuous improvement in the quality assurance processes
• Must be a self-starter and able to work with minimal guidance
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

• Medical device industry, experience working with FDA design control process highly desired

• Experience working with Kubernetes is a plus.

• Experience working in Cloud Applications like Google Cloud or AWS is a plus.

• Experience with containerization tools like Docker.

Functional Description

Analyzes, designs, develops, programs, debugs, and modifies software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products in local, networked, cloud-based or Internet-related tools. Uses current programming language and technologies, writes code, completes programming, and performs testing and debugging of applications. May interact with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications. Develops, modifies, and executes software test plans, automates scripts and programs for testing. Analyzes and writes test standards and procedures. Maintains documentation of test results to assist in debugging and modification of software. Analyzes test results to ensure existing functionality and recommends corrective action. Provides feedback in preparation of technical appraisals of programming languages, systems, and computation software. Ensures quality computer integration into the overall functions of scientific computation, data acquisition, and processing.

  • Possesses broad understanding of technical principles and theories. Ability to synthesize external data and research findings for application that may impact technical objectives.

  • Demonstrates successes in technical proficiency and independent thought. Works on complex problems in which analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of various factors. Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results.

Judgement

  • Exercises good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work, general instructions on new assignments.

Experience and Education

  • Typically requires a Bachelors degree in a technical discipline, and a minimum of 5-8 years related experience or Masters degree and 2-5 years equivalent industry experience or a PhD and 0-2 years experience.

Workplace Type

  • The Workplace Type for this role is Remote. Based on the nature of your position you will need to visit a Dexcom site no more than once per quarter and no more than 10 business days per visit (4 trips/40 days max per year). Travel and expenses will be reimbursed for this travel if you live outside of commuting distance (typically 75 miles/120km) of your assigned Dexcom site.
