Staff Accountant - VOA National Housing Corporation

Summary of Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities:

To process, or assist with the processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, insurance & tax escrow (ITE), and financial statements for VOA National Housing Corporation (VOANHC), as well as provide accounting support for VOA sponsored single asset housing entities.

Essential Functions, Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned accounts payable functions.
  • Perform assigned accounts receivable functions.
  • Perform assigned payroll functions as follow.
  • Perform assigned cash functions.
  • Perform month-end close activities.
  • Assist in preparing the Insurance and Tax Escrow (ITE) account analysis spreadsheet.
  • Work with third-party accounting firms to reconcile monthly balances Due to VOA National Housing Corporation (A/R, Advances, and Loans).
  • Support Housing Development projects assigned by Senior Accountant and Accounting Manager.
  • Support the Senior Accountant with budget related functions for VOANHC.
  • Support the Senior Accountant and Accounting Manager with annual audit requests for VOANHC.
  • Solve problems and respond to accounting issues as they arise.
  • Other projects as assigned by Senior Accountant, Accounting Manger, and Controller - Housing.


Job Requirements

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business or finance.
  • At least two years work experience in accounting field.
  • Affordable housing, HUD and LIHTC experience preferred.
  • Strong oral and written skills.
  • Able to maintain positive attitude and approach towards assignments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Experience using accounting system databases, ideally with Great Plains.
  • Experience using PN3 payables system.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple, competing deadlines.
  • Detail oriented, deadline driven, resourceful and proactive.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours. Ability to travel is required.
