Staff VP Stop Loss

Location: Elevance Health supports a hybrid workplace model (virtual and in-office) with PulsePoint sites used for collaboration, community, and connection. This leadership role will take part in the hybrid workforce strategy which includes virtual work and in office days 3 or more times per week. May be located within 50-miles or less to any Elevance Health PulsePoint office.

Summary

Responsible for directing Stop Loss product sales and account management retention activities for both Stand Alone and Bundled Stop Loss with block of business annual Premium Equivalents between $500 million and $3.0 billion and membership greater than 1,000,000 contracts.

Team Scope

Direct Reports-8 including Sales, Account Management, Broker Relations, Account Executive and Business Strategy.

Position Responsibilities

  • Establish plans and strategies for developing business and achieving the company's sales and retention goals for both Stand Alone Stop Loss and Bundled Stop Loss.
  • Manage the sales team, operations, processes, and resources to deliver profitable growth and retention strategies and execute the retention/growth plans with targeted producers.
  • Manage the sales budgets.
  • Manage the Sales organization and processes.
  • Determine optimal sales force structure.
  • Define and oversee sales staff compensation and incentive programs that motivate the sales team to achieve their sales targets.
  • Define and coordinate sales and producer (broker/consultant) programs that enable Elevance to achieve objectives.
  • Provide detailed and accurate sales forecasting and reporting of actual results.
  • Monitor customer, market and competitor activity and provide feedback to company leadership team.
  • Represent the Stop Loss business for the quarterly Stop Loss business operating review with Divisional Leadership.
  • Represent Elevance at SIIA, CIAB and other events.
  • Lead and participate in product development.
  • Hires, trains, coaches, counsels, and evaluates performance of direct reports and materially influences Local and National Sales Teams and Account Management resources.
Position Requirements
  • Requires a BA/BS and a minimum of 10 plus years B2B experience selling Stop Loss insurance to brokers/consultants/centers of excellence representatives.
  • Minimum of 10 years management experience managing a team of 10 or more salespeople; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background. Insurance license required.
