Job Summary

The State Cadre Technical Assistance Specialist (TA specialist) provides equity-focused professional learning and technical assistance consultative supports in the areas of race, sex, national origin, and religion to public local and state education agencies, school districts and other responsible governmental agencies (regional partners) within the center's 13-state region.

Department-Specific Responsibilities

  • Professional Learning and Technical Assistance Provision
    • For assigned regional partners, provides customized, on-demand technical assistance through the delivery of in-person and virtual professional learning experiences and collaborative consultation supports to local and state education agencies within the center's 13-state region.
  • Designs, Develops or Revises Profession Learning Materials, Tools, and Resources. Designs and develops customized research informed tools and resources or updates existing resources with the most current and accurate research and information when needed.
  • Outreach and Network Convening
    • Conducts outreach activities and convenes virtual and in-person meetings of stakeholders to build equity learning and action networks and to assess needs and assets.
  • Partner/Client Processing and Records Maintenance
    • Completes partner intake process including scheduling and facilitating intake interviews, drafting partner specific memoranda of understanding and partnership work scope, maintaining timely and effective communication with regional partners as well as internal staff, organizing and maintaining current and accurate records of technical assistance activities and archiving associated documents.
  • Data Reporting
    • Completes required grant and center reporting activities
  • Adhering to the center's technical assistance approaches, systems, and frameworks, the TA specialist develops research and practice-based professional learning content and serves as lead facilitator in the provision of direct services to center regional partners.
  • Conducts partner intake process, documenting partner-specific technical assistance activities and related data and organizing and maintaining all technical assistance provision records and documents.
  • Works closely with the professional learning consultant and the continuous improvement and evaluation consultant; and in collaboration with the associate directors, director of operations, and executive director.
General Responsibilities
  • Provides support and guidance to faculty in both individual and group settings regarding instructional support, pedagogical practice, classroom management, and federal regulations like FERPA and Title IX.
  • Determines additional support needs through consultation and designs resources to meet educational support needs.
  • Participates in educational resources initiatives in coordination with faculty and staff to improve student academic outcomes and improve classroom experience.
  • May trains teaching assistants, associate instructors, and graders in grading methods, responding appropriately to student concerns, and resolving complex issues.
  • Plans seminars, workshops, and other events for faculty, associate instructors, and students, as requested and appropriate by faculty.
  • Advances programs from individual consultations/workshops to larger-scale transformative events/projects when appropriate.
  • Researches industry trends in the areas of educational theory and practice and incorporates best practices into educational resources initiatives.
  • May oversee student testing administration and consult regularly with students regarding coordination of educational resources.
  • May take on particularly complex consultation opportunities to address significant opportunities in educational support.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in related field
Preferred
  • Master's degree with completion of doctoral level course work or Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or Doctor of Education (Ed.D.)
WORK EXPERIENCE

Required
  • 5 years in related field
Preferred
  • 5 years of experience developing and leading sustained partnerships with public education agencies, and educational consultation and coaching
  • Experience as a state, district, or higher education agency administrator

  • Proficient in collaborative consultation skills or instructional coaching models or approaches
  • Proficient in collaborative inquiry cycles or collaborative problem solving
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles. Universal Design for Learning principles and practices for designing content-rich interactive professional learning experiences for adult learners, and familiarity with sociocultural learning theories
  • Highly skilled in oral and written communication and public speaking
  • Ability to lead and collaborate with teams, coach and delivers constructive feedback, and work effectively from multiple locations and with a variety of individuals to facilitate consensus
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently. Proficient in project management
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Familiarity with online learning management systems and virtual collaboration platform (e.g., Canvas, Zoom, Microsoft Teams)
  • Demonstrates excellent judgment, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

Working Conditions / Demands

This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Additional Information

This position is grant funded with expected annual renewals. Renewals are contingent on the availability of grant funds.

$50,000-$73,500 a year
