Wellstar Cobb Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Stroke Program Manager.

Job Summary:

Provides leadership for the Stroke Program to promote excellence in patient care. This position will also assist in the planning, development and implementation of the Comprehensive Stroke Program as it expands to offer complex care to stroke patients. This leader will be responsible for program goals and operations regarding all aspects of the Stroke program. Provides direction to establish, monitor and evaluate the quality of care given to Stroke patients and to ensure our patients are provided with the highest quality of care. An additional focus of this position is to provide vision and ensure the program stays attentive to current and future community needs. Assumes responsibility for implementing standards of practice, program policies and procedures and maintaining and improving the quality of patient care delivered. Creates an environment which enables the system to fulfill its mission and goals, fosters communication and collaborative practice with physicians and other departments

Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Accreditation and Regulatory Compliance

- Assumes responsibility for program management of the Comprehensive Stroke Program, WellStar Kennestone specific
- Collaborate with Neuroscience Cabinet, Clinical Nurse Manager's, and Administrative Leadership in the development and achievement of the Comprehensive stroke program at Kennestone Hospital.
- Provide direction and strategic planning including the attainment of short and long term goals for the hospital stroke program.
- Maintain communication with Service Line Cabinet regarding facility initiatives and on-going projects within Joint Commission guidelines.
- Develop and provide education for staff necessary for the successful certification and recertification of the stroke program per Joint Commission guidelines.
- Oversight of Community Stroke Awareness events
- Oversee and maintain performance improvement activities in compliance with Joint Commission standards Human Resources

- Participates in the selection of qualified personnel for specific roles to support the stroke program
- Assures compliance with System and facility policies and procedures, standards of practice and documentation standards.
- Recognizes staff for achievements through positive feedback Oversight of Primary Stroke Program

- Evaluates and ensures compliance with all Joint Commission requirements for System Stroke Center accreditation.
- Attends updates of Primary Stroke Center, Comprehensive Stroke Center, and CMS requirements.
- Serve as a leader and resource for system facilities to ensure cohesive care for Neuroscience patients.
- Collaborate with system Stroke Coordinator's and best practice group with a goal of consistent system wide stroke care.
- Collaborate with Accreditation Coordinators to ensure Joint Commission readiness, Intracycle callsand Accreditation preparedness.
- Providing system coordination and leadership among the WellStar facilities through current best practice. Team facilitator for the Comprehensive (Interventional) Stroke Program.

- Collaborate with Neuroscience Nursing Units to ensure proper planning and facilitation of education is in compliance with current standards.
- Initiates and oversees research projects as indicated for Comprehensive Stroke Certification.
- Evaluate Comprehensive Stroke Program metrics in accordance with the American Heart/American Stroke Association current guidelines.
- Teams up with Neurosurgeons to ensure metrics and standards are achieved per current guidelines.
- Directs outreach activities in line with program and hospital goals.
- Evaluates program data and collaborates with program team members for areas of success and opportunities for improvement. Project Management (Special Projects)

- Serves as project manager with timeliness of initiatives and as assigned
- Define scope of service, goals and deliverables specific to Comprehensive Stroke program.
- Develop and update program policies and associated communication documents.
- Effectively communicate program expectations to team members in a timely and clear fashion.
- Estimate resources and participants needed to achieve program goals.
- Set and continually manage program expectations with team members.
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
- Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the Stroke program.
- Plan and schedule project timeliness and milestones using appropriate tools.
- Track project milestones and deliverables.
- Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations as assigned.
- Manage changes in project scope, identify potential crises and devise contingency plans.
- Coach, mentor, motivate and supervise Stroke Oversight team members and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
- Development and maintenance of Neuroscience/Stroke website.

Required Minimum Education:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
  • Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Master's Degree is preferred

Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):

  • Basic Life Support 1.00 Required
  • Reg Nurse (Single State) 2.00 Required
  • RN - Multi-state Compact 2.00 Required

Additional Licenses and Certifications:

  • Certification in neuroscience nursing Upon Hire is preferred
  • ASLS certification Upon Hire is preferred

Required Minimum Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years recent acute care clinical experience
  • Minimum 1 year to three years' experience in program management or similar role along with healthcare quality and performance improvement knowledge is preferred
  • Superior knowledge of Stroke quality metrics as well as Primary Stroke Certification guidelines
  • Comprehensive Stroke Guidelines is preferred is preferred

Required Minimum Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal skills to facilitate team dynamics is necessary
  • Time management skills, leadership skills, prioritization skills and change management skills are necessary to focus on goal achievement for the program.
