We are currently recruiting for a Stumpage Procurement Forester for our sawmill in Swainsboro, GA. The Procurement Forester will be responsible for evaluating, purchasing, and harvesting stumpage tracts. It also includes coordinating the log flow with Lead Procurement Foresters to meet production needs for area mills.

What You'll Do

  • Lead efforts to support all activities around the purchase and harvesting of stumpage tracts.
  • Assist in compiling, organizing. etc data related to our participation in the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI) program.
  • Assist in internal and external Chain of Custody and SFI audits.
  • Assist in managing the safety performance and expectations of contract loggers.
  • Assist in wood procurement, log yard, and log valuation activities.
  • Assist in a myriad of log procurement projects.
  • Work closely within the Interfor system to ensure optimal procurement approach within the Interfor procurement system.
  • Monitor and evaluate market data and information in the development of pricing for stumpage purchases.
  • Assist other Interfor foresters with stumpage acquisition activities and logging contractor management.
  • Provide analytical support for log procurement activities.

What You Offer

  • Knowledge of local log markets preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of supply chain logistics including the harvesting and hauling of forest products.
  • Bachelor's degree in forestry or a related field is an asset.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • Possess strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Detailed and results oriented.  
  • Ability and willingness to work outdoors in sometimes inclement or hot weather conditions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a highly interactive team environment.
  • Strong negotiating skills (i.e., analytical, quick-thinking, innovative).
  • Strong math background.
  • Computer skills - Microsoft office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
