SUMMARY

Position responsible for supervising the store lease payable functions for a billion dollar plus company. This position interacts significantly with Landlords, Real Estate, Legal, Accounting and other employees (including Executives). The role requires an ability to maintain positive relationships with business partners with differing interests.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned as business needs require:

  • Handle all store lease payable aspects within the Supplier Accounting Services team.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, and managing a team of up to 6 analysts/coordinators, to ensure continuity of workflow and adherence to company's objectives.
  • Basic knowledge or ability to read to gain general understanding of store leases to manage 3,000+ sites in the US, including Lease Review and one-time transactions.
  • Proficiency in ledger reconciliations.
  • Perform requisite month end and year end close activities, as well as provide issue resolution and technical guidance.
  • Maintain strong relationships with our landlords, Legal, Real Estate, Treasury staff and GL Teams.
  • Understanding of SOX controls and standard segregation of duties
  • Assist in prioritizing and organizing team workloads - both daily tasks and larger projects
  • Ensuring adherence to company and accounting policies and procedures
  • Track and approve employee hours for payroll.
  • Ad hoc requests

ESSENTIAL JOB SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Understanding of accounting principles, particularly related to lease accounting
  • Organize, prioritize, and control job responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively with management and other departments.
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers and can maintain a strong relationship while delivering information that is not in line with their expectations.
  • Strong supervisory skills.
  • Recognize discrepancies in reports, research the source of the error and plan a solution.
  • Strong experience with MS Excel/Word/Outlook and required programs.
  • Flexible to adapt to changing priorities and perform basic task work
  • Work with minimal supervision
  • Meet deadlines.


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Accounting or Finance Degree
  • Minimum of three years' supervisory experience in heavy reconciliation-based environment or relative experience
  • Experience with Lucernex, Great Plains, Coupa software is a plus but not required.
