We are currently seeking a Part-Time, Supplemental Welding Instructor who will adhere to the aforementioned mission statement and will perform duties primarily related to the instruction of courses in assigned subject matter areas.

GENERAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:

  • Required: Associates Degree or higher in Welding, or an equivalent combination of experience and education

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENCES:

  • Preferred: Current welding certifications in area of expertise

EXPERIENCE:

  • Required:
    • Welding in the construction, structural, fabrication, manufacturing and/or pipe industries.
    • Setting up and operating GMAW, SMAW, FCAW, GTAW, Oxy/Fuel and/or Plasma cutting equipment

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Provide student friendly, industry focused instruction;
  • Instruct classes as assigned, and fill in for absent instructors;
  • Schedule and post office hours to provide academic support to students and tutors;
  • Organize and deliver class objectives in a clear, concise manner; maintaining an orderly, controlled, and safe environment for our students in classrooms and labs;
  • Ensure training aids, tools, and equipment are maintained and prepared for use in the classroom and lab;
  • Supervise and hold students accountable while promoting learning, participation, motivation, and professionalism;
  • Test, evaluate, and communicate performance and progress with students, supervisors, and other departments in a timely and accurate manner;
  • Maintain curriculum accuracy by keeping up-to-date on the industry;
  • Ensure Amarillo College is legitimate in our operations by following the compliance related responsibilities for this position;
  • Weld different types of metal including; steel, aluminum or stainless steel;
  • Perform additional related duties as required; and

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of welding and cutting processes
  • Ability to interact with all levels of individuals
  • Ability to read, understand and use Welding Procedure Specification sheets
  • Ability to read, understand and use technical drawings or blueprints to manufacture components.
  • Ability to problem solve and multi-task
  • Ability to adapt to a changing fast-paced environment
  • Computer skills
  • Communication skills (verbal and written)
  • People development and instructional skills and abilities

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds for short periods of time. Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl for short periods of times. Must be able sit and walk for prolonged periods of time.

Work Environment: Work is performed primarily indoors often in a climate controlled environment near or with hot metal fusion and cutting processes, near or with moving mechanical parts and short periods of limited exposure to non-hazardous levels of fumes or airborne particles.

Salary: $20.00/hour
