The Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for leading all purchasing, planning and logistics related activities that support Ameridrives operations. This position will drive optimization in quality, delivery and cost via strategic decision making, problem solving, supplier performance monitoring, identifying and pursuing cost savings opportunities, and developing advanced sourcing related processes and tools. This position will drive vendor accountability. This position will work closely with other internal department leads including finance, engineering, and customer service as well as corporate sourcing resources and external supplier contacts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The duties of the Supply Chain Manager include but are not limited to the following tasks and other projects and duties may be assigned:

  • Responsible for negotiations for best possible cost, quality and service; develop "win-win" strategies that achieve sustainable relationships with suppliers and corporate synergies.
  • Evaluate supplier core competencies, competitive positioning and risk assessments.
  • Implement supplier agreements /contracts where beneficial by working with cross-functional stakeholders and suppliers to reach agreement on terms and conditions.
  • Analyze industry trends and evolving technology to identify supply base issues to minimize risk, protect continuity of supply, and utilize emerging opportunities.
  • Analyze and calculate costs of procurement and suggest methods to decrease expenditure, improve cash flow.
  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships.
  • Identify supply chain risks and develop mitigation strategies and action plans.
  • Develop and implement sourcing and supplier selection strategy domestically and internationally.
  • Participate in establishing budget development of the company to support strategic business goals of corporate and business unit.
  • Excess and obsolescence management.
  • Develop a supplier management program with key suppliers including metrics, performance goals and improvement initiatives, monitor Supplier Risk.
  • Continuously improve productivity and efficiency of processes throughout the operational organization using Altra Business System (ABS) principles.
  • Lead department to develop forecasts for future demand and place orders in a timely fashion based upon vendor lead-times.
  • Manage and mentor staff encouraging professional growth & development.
  • Oversee staffing/recruiting/training /coaching of direct reports including performance reviews qualifications, skills and abilities using SuccessFactors.
  • Support the efforts of the division/OPCO Procurement initiatives and work with the division Global Supply Chain Manager as required.


Job Requirements

  • Ability and willingness to lead and work in a matrix organization with direct and indirect reporting relationships
  • Demonstrated mastery of the ABS tool kit / lean manufacturing tools
  • Familiarity with various technical manufacturing process
  • Ability to read and communicate technical information including mechanical drawing dimensions
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally

Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain, business administration or equivalent experience. MBA or MS in engineering is preferred.
  • ISM or APICS Certification.
  • Prior experience with international supply chain planning and leading a supply chain team.
  • Prior experience with utilizing lean methodology and tools to improve operations.
  • Experience leading a team of purchasing and planning professionals.
  • Manufacturing machining/tools experience preferred.
  • Experience in metal working and assembly operations, preferred.
  • SAP experience is preferred.
