How you can make a bigger difference:

The School Based Mental Health Prevention and Intervention program is a new program in "high-needs" middle and high schools which provides counseling, professional development, classroom observations, group therapy for at risk groups, case management and community linkages/referrals, etc. The program offers both prevention work for the entire school population, screening and brief intervention for vulnerable populations (LGBTQ, new immigrants, etc.) and provides individual, family, group and collateral sessions for students and families with a behavioral health issues. This program aims to provide school staff with more options, increase student access to mental health services, and include greater family engagement through community referrals, family therapy, parent workshops, and trainings. The goal is to increase opportunities for children with emotional and behavioral difficulties and their families to receive high-quality mental health services in the school setting.


The Social Work Supervisor has full responsibility for the on-going clinical guidance of the family advocate/case management staff members. The Supervisor also provides on-going training and supervision to the clinical staff. The Supervisor may be called upon to perform any of the line functions normally performed by a social worker/case manager and is expected to be fully proficient in those areas. The Supervisor is familiar with all standards and functions as an internal resource on evidence based treatment and school policies.


  • Provides regularly scheduled weekly supervision to all family advocate/case management staff members.
  • Evaluates appropriateness of school plans and approves these based upon an understanding of the interests of the schools, as well as any safety/risk concerns.
  • Facilitates weekly clinical supervision or case conferences with social work staff
  • Reviews documentation to ensure that documentation meets standards.
  • Oversees and ensures the quality of services provided and the implementation of evidence-based models of service delivery.
  • Collaborates and partners with school staff.
  • Evaluates supervisees and ensures timeliness of all documentation.
  • Completes job performance evaluations and provides professional development support on a regular basis.
  • May supervise student interns.
  • Reviews assessments, treatment plans and other clinical documentation for individual or family therapy; concentrating on new referrals.
  • Understands myAvatar and other electronic or survey formats used by the program
  • Provides all necessary notes, progress notes, other paperwork as required by DOE and JBFCS.
  • Cover for Director in his/her absence


Qualifications:

The Jewish Board is currently looking for talented individuals of all cultures, religions, races, and gender expressions with the following qualifications:

  • LCSW preferred, LMSW with appropriate clinical experience.
  • A minimum of three years of related experience; work in schools or with adolescents preferred.
