Job Summary:

The Systems Application Engineer-Electrical is responsible for generating costs for electrical controls engineering and electrical installation of material handling systems based on mechanical AutoCAD layouts, equipment lists, customer specifications and sequence of operation documents. The engineer will also be responsible for developing the overall controls system and 480V power distribution design, ensuring that the layout is functional and meets the customer requirements. A System Applications Engineer-Electrical has exhibited proficiency in all competencies defined for Systems Engineer-Electrical and functions as a subject matter expert for the Systems Engineering team based on previous experience in engineering role in the conveyor industry.

Responsibilities:

  • Mastery of the EE Est tool - ability to independently develop controls estimates and assist associate estimators working in the EE Est
  • Master of the EIS tool - ability to independently develop electrical installation estimates and assist associate estimators working in the EIS.
  • Lead technical discussions with customers to evaluate concerns and to consider deviations from standard design.
  • Function as a subject matter expert - ability to determine electrical engineering budget for a given scope, to quickly diagnose errors in electrical estimates, and to interface with execution teams throughout the lifecycle of a project.
  • Interpret specifications and technical requirements for new customers, in order to assist the organizational objective to expand our customer base.
  • Develop high level electrical system design based on RFP requirements and customer (primarily FedEx, UPS, and Amazon) specifications.
  • Work with the Business Development team to integrate electrical costs into a proposal; considering the company's ability to execute the project and to maintain competitive advantages within the industry.
  • Communicate with Engineering, Project Management, and Field Services to ensure a smooth handoff from the estimating phase of a project to execution.
  • Identify opportunities for streamlining estimating processes and continuously improving the functionality of tools to develop the most accurate expected project costs.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Advanced understanding of conveyor systems and controls/electrical architecture
  • Advanced understanding of customer specifications, including the ability to interpret specifications for new customers and revisions from existing customers.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of all applicable electrical codes / standards including but not limited to UL508A, NEC, NFPA79, SCCR rating.
  • Ability to generate, analyze and modify 2D AutoCAD drawing files.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, both orally and written, at all levels of the business and with customers.

Education and Experience:
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • 5+ years' experience in the conveyor industry.
  • 5+ years' Electrical estimating experience
  • 4+ years' Electrical design and Programming (PLC, GDU, HMI, etc.)

Other Qualifications Desired:
  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.

Physical Requirements:
  • General office environment with normal sitting, standing and minimal, nominal lifting.
  • PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) may be required at customer locations.
  • Some climbing may be required at customer locations.

Other Relevant Information:
  • Valid Driver's License Required.
  • Valid Passport.

Travel Requirements:
  • Travel required, up to 10%.

The base salary range for this role is $85,000 to $127,500. This base salary range represents the low and high end of the base salary range for this position. Actual base salary offered will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and performance.
