Our small, rapidly growing CPA firm based in Reston, VA is actively recruiting a Tax Manager with minimum of 7 years of tax experience in public accounting and a minimum of 3 years of managerial experience to join our team on a full-time basis. In this role, you will be responsible for managing client relationships, reviewing tax returns and developing and supervising staff.

The owner of the firm is at capacity and needs to bring on a strategic thinker and problem-solver so he can continue to grow the business. What You Will Be Doing -Supervise personal and corporate complex tax issues on a regular basis. Review income tax returns for individual, trust, partnership, and corporate clients.

- Require strong background and understanding of C-Corporations, S-Corporations and Partnerships.

- Have a comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws while being current with new developments.

- Assume the responsibility for the smooth flow of tax returns.

- Analyze IRS notices and directly drafts responses or review responses prepared by staff.

- Prepare and review quarterly and annual income tax provisions; identify and document uncertain tax positions.

- Perform more complex tax research and review research projects of others.

- Review bookkeeping work completed by staff.

- Offer ongoing status updates to management and staff.

- Should have extensive knowledge in payroll and payroll reporting.

- Perform other duties as assigned/necessary.
What You Need for this Position -Bachelors degree in Accounting required.

-Master's in taxation is strongly desired.

- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) License required.

- Proficiency in use of computers and tax software programs (Ultratax, Practice CS, QuickBooks, MS Office and Outlook, etc.).

- Technology savvy and proficient/advanced user of Excel.

- Exceptional project management skills are required, with proactive process improvement experience.

- Ability to work quickly, yet accurately in a fast-paced environment.

- Must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills and outstanding attention to detail.

- Exercise a high level of ethical and professional judgment.

- Must be organized, demonstrate problem solving ability and exceptional reasoning skills.

- Energetic and have a high sense of urgency while working on projects.

- Must have ability to prioritize workload in order to meet competing deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
