We are currently seeking a Full -Time Team Leader for our Child Care Center who will adhere to the aforementioned mission statement and who will provide a team leadership role that supports national standards for the education of young children and coordinates parent programs and parent conferences as needed.

GENERAL QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

  • Required: Associate's Degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Early Education or a related field.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES:

  • Preferred: CDA Certificate in Infant/Toddler Education.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Required:
    • 30 clock hours of additional training.
    • 3 years of experience in caring for young children in a group situation. Clear Background History.
  • Preferred:
    • 5 years of experience in caring for young children in a group situation.
    • Experience in working in an NAEYC accredited program, or a Four Star program in the Rising Star system. School experience with Pre K.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build positive relationships with families; Implement and maintain the "Parents As Teachers" program;
  • Coordinate all parent programs (i.e. parent meetings, Backpack Program, parent/teacher conferences.);
  • Assess and file training plans and certificates for employees;
  • Support curriculum plans for all ages of children enrolled;
  • Organize materials to support lessons and units on a regular basis;
  • Substitute in classrooms, maintain playgrounds, and supervise playground activities;
  • Supervise employees when the Child Care Center Supervisor is absent;
  • Maintain professional commitment and attend professional development activities as assigned;
  • Maintain commitment to NAEYC standards;
  • In accordance with Texas state law and licensing rules of the Texas Department of Family Protective Services, persons employed in this position will be subject to a Child Care Criminal History Check (TDPRS Form 2971), FBI Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis test;
  • Participate in professional learning and development as required under state or local contractual agreements and/or Amarillo College; and,

  • Must be able to maintain a commitment to discretion and confidentiality concerning sensitive information, and perform additional duties or job functions required/deemed necessary by supervisory personnel.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office, cleaning, and teaching supplies as needed. Employee may be required to lift children.

Working Conditions: The working conditions described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. In accordance with Texas state law and licensing rules of the Texas Department of Family Protective Services, persons employed in this position will be subject to a Child Care Criminal History Check (TDPRS Form 2971), FBI Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis test. Employee is required to maintain CDA certification annual requirements and maintain an active CPR/First Aid Certification. Occasional overtime hours may be required. Overtime hours must be approved by supervisor and/or cabinet member prior to work.

Work Environment: The work environment described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This position operates in a child care environment, requiring regular sanitation. Employee will experience daily exposure to household cleaning supplies, frequently distracting noise levels, and frequent interruptions.

Travel: Any travel essential for this position requires the employee to adhere to the Amarillo College Travel Policy as written.

Salary: Amarillo College Staff Salary Schedule grade 8
