Overview

Princeton University is seeking a Client Support Specialist who specializes in digital media, A/V and IT to support its program in the Visual Arts. The support specialist assists in the day-to-day coordination of the technology needs of the program's faculty, students and staff-in classrooms, computer labs, and exhibition spaces. The support specialist provides assistance with digital camera and film technologies, as well as the Adobe Creative Cloud suite. This role also researches and recommends equipment to support the needs of the program. The support specialist works in a busy environment, providing support for a variety of technology systems, as well as hands-on technical support.

Responsibilities

IT Support for Faculty and Staff

  • Set up and configure photography, sound, and film equipment in classrooms per faculty requests  
  • Support and troubleshoot computer hardware, software, and keep operating system software up to date  
  • Review and respond to emails, manage incidents and loan requests, send late notices for overdue equipment using the ServiceNow ticketing system 
  • Install University core applications on computers, including ASM - JAMF, Microsoft InTune, Microsoft Office, CrashPlan, BitLocker and File Vault Encryption, Adobe Creative Cloud, Avid ProTools, and Audacity 
  • Purchase equipment and supplies using the University's procurement system  
  • Stay current with industry standards and technology support certifications 
  • Create and maintain signage and classroom "how-to" documentation 

Classroom IT/Audio Visual Support

  •  Support and troubleshoot classroom A/V systems that include projectors and Crestron panel technologies 
  • Configure and color calibrate projectors, large format Epson printers, and flat panel monitors to prepare for student exhibitions 
  • Color calibrates computers using Photoshop profiles to ensure accurate photo printing to eliminate saturation 
  • Attending trade shows to evaluate new products and learn about trends in photography and film 

 Inventory Support

  • Assemble kits of photography, sound, and film equipment for courses  
  • Manage an inventory of more than 500 items in the ServiceNow service management inventory and reservation system management and ensure that all equipment is functioning properly  
  • Prepare reservation requests entered the digital loan system to be ready for pickup 
  • Maintain inventory of classroom supplies, such as paper, ink, film carriers, and printer materials (maintenance kits, reservoir tanks) 
  • Maintain department computer inventory and recommend renewals according to the life-cycle replacement program 

Mentoring and advising students in best practice

  • Provide instruction to students on digital photography and film equipment (Cannon and Panasonic)functionality and equipment recommendations for assignments 
  • Provide guidance on camera settings, such as shutter speed, aperture, ISO, picture profile, and white balance 
  • Demo new and existing film, sound, printer, and computer equipment in a classroom setting 
  • Make recommendations to students on the best equipment and software to ensure project success  
  • Help students prepare exhibition spaces by staging technical and AV equipment 
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of experience working to support IT and Audio/Visual needs 
  • Ability to manage and maintain systems efficiently and learn new systems quickly  
  • Information Technology background with strong Apple MacOS installation and troubleshooting  
  • Knowledge of audio-visual and video conference technologies (such as Crestron) and services 
  • Ability to understand the functionality of photography, sound, film equipment and tools   
  • Attention to detail, organizational cleanliness and effective communication skills are a must 
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively  
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts, or equivalent related work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience supporting and troubleshooting desktop\laptop computers, printers, and scanners 
  • Working knowledge of ServiceNow  
  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud Suite 
  • Experience working in an academic environment  
  • Ability to instruct in the use of Epson large format printing processes 
  • Understanding of basic network troubleshooting  
  • Experience supporting digital photography and film studies computer classrooms  
  • Apple ACSP certification  
  • CompTIA A+ certification  
  • Valid driver's license 
  • Ability to lift 40 or more pounds
