Title: Technical Writer

Project Details: We are looking for a Technical Writer to join a large Utility client in San Diego. Must be local or close to San Diego but will work mostly remote.

Qualifications:

• 3-5+ years of proven Technical Writing experience documenting processes and procedures
• Ability to make complex technical concepts easily understandable through technical documentation in the form of text and pictures (process documentation, procedures, user guides, etc.)
• Ability to deliver high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience
• Excellent written skills in English
• Extreme attention to detail
• Effective oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate at all levels
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office

Nice to Have Skills:

• University degree in English, Communication or equivalent preferred
• Knowledge of Business Continuity Planning
• Experience in Emergency Management or in an Emergency Operations Center (EOC)

Project Details: The Technical Writer will support the company's Emergency Management Department and will be responsible for producing high-quality documentation that contributes to the overall success of documenting Emergency Management processes and procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Work with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the documentation requirements
• Quickly grasp complex topics pertaining to the subject matter, which will require high attention to detail
• Produce high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience
• Write easy-to-understand user interface text, online help, and developer guides
• Create tutorials to help end-users use a variety of applications
• Analyze existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities
• Create and maintain the information architecture
• Work with internal teams on evolving product and documentation requirements
