Description

The Nebraska Arts Council Temporary Business Manager is responsible for the smooth operation of a small state agency located in a historic building adjacent to Omaha's Old Market. The agency supports the work of arts organizations, arts educators and artists through grants, services and initiatives.

The NAC is goal oriented, stresses teamwork and thrives on being innovative. The agency is on a modified work schedule which allows for flexibility.

Location: 1004 Farnam Street, Plaza Level, Omaha, NE 68102

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm generally. The agency is on a modified work schedule which allows for flexibility.

This is a temporary position expected to last 3 months from start date.

Examples of Work
Accounting duties include processing administrative expenditures and monitoring agency budgets, creating month-end reports, utilizing a database of operations, processing payroll and general ledger entries, and working with the Deputy Director on budget projections.

Office management duties include coordinating quarterly council meetings, assembling board materials, overseeing meeting logistics and making travel arrangements.
Similar project management responsibilities are required for agency service to the field and special events. All staff attend all agency functions and staff meetings.
Qualifications / Requirements
Required:
Associate degree in public or business administration, accounting, or any discipline related to the work assigned. One year of experience in administrative, business management or technical support work including collecting and interpreting statistical, financial, program, or administrative data; or interpreting laws, rules, regulations, and processes. Experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred:
• Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, finance or other related field and one year business-related experience. Related work experience may be substituted for the Bachelor's requirement on a year-for-year basis.
• Possess evidence of activity as an arts consumer.

Other:
• Possess valid driver's license and willingness to travel.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Thorough understanding of Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Access, Power Point, Excel and Word
• Working knowledge of Quickbooks
• Working knowledge of Adobe Acrobat Pro
• Familiarity with governmental regulations
• Administrative organization and functioning
• Detail oriented, with excellent organizational skills.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize and multitask
• Ability to work with a variety of people.
• Ability to problem solve and develop creative solutions.
• General knowledge of all arts disciplines including specific expertise in one or more arts discipline.
