Tennis Instructor / Pickleball Professional - Duke Faculty Club

OCCUPATIONAL SUMMARY

Under the direction of the Tennis Director, DFC Pickleball Instructors are responsible for teaching pickleball programming for DFC members

General Duties:

- Provide competent pickleball instruction for all groups and levels, including but not limited to juniors, adults, seniors, advanced players and beginners.

- Provide private, semi-private and group instruction; document participation and charges incurred therein.

- Assist the Tennis Director with planning and implementing monthly socials, leagues and recreational opportunities for the DFC pickleball community.

- Work with DFC management staff regarding proper billing and resolution of disputed charges.

- Provide oversight of pickleball courts insuring surface is safe and playable, inspecting nets, net posts, scorecards, windscreens, fences, benches and other court accessories; reporting all repair needs to the DFC Facilities Manager.

- Organize and secure all pickleball storage and equipment within the building and on the grounds.

- Assist the DFC in assuring pickleball participants sign in prior to activity at the club.

- Enforce all DFC rules and regulations governing the use of its facilities, equipment and other property.

- Assist the DFC management staff during club special events and recreational programming as needed.

- Responsible for creating a welcoming and vibrant pickleball environment that promotes safety, quality customer service and excellence.

Education/Training:

- Work requires analytical, communication and organizational skills generally acquired through two years of secondary education

- USPTA or PPR certification preferred.

Experience:

- Previous experience instructing adults and juniors

- Ability to plan, coordinate and implement a variety of program activities

- Demonstrated administrative and management abilities, excellent interpersonal skills, high levels of energy, enthusiasm and motivation, maturity, and the ability to work effectively with members and other professional staff

- Requires flexible work hours such as evenings and weekends

Minimum Qualifications

Education

Work requires the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions generally acquired through a high school education.

Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

AMERICAN RED CROSS CPR FOR THE PROFESSIONAL RESCUER. USTA RATING OR COMPARABLE TENNIS PLAYING ABILITY.
