Job Summary

Kutztown University of Pennsylvania enrolls approximately 8,000 students in graduate and undergraduate programs. The university is located in the borough of Kutztown in a charming rural setting, and is within 20 minutes driving time of the diverse metropolitan areas of Allentown/Bethlehem and Reading, and within 60 minutes of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The university is very interested in hiring employees who have had extensive experience with diverse populations.Kutztown University's Counseling and Psychological Services (CPS) department is currently accepting applications for tenure-track faculty counselors for the 2024-2025 academic year. We are seeking licensed candidates with an earned doctoral degree in counseling, social work, or a related field, or those with a master's degree and equivalent professional experience in diverse clinical settings. CPS is located in the student health center, reporting through the division of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs, and serves undergraduate and graduate students in a team-oriented setting. Responsibilities of this non-teaching position include:Providing in-person individual and group counseling.
Providing risk assessment and emergency intervention services.
Providing consultation services to students, faculty, and staff.
Providing clinical supervision of graduate practicum students.
Providing referral services to external resources when a higher level of care is needed.
Developing and implementing culturally- and trauma-informed outreach programs on a variety of topics.
Collaborating with various campus partners and participating in campus service opportunities.



Minimum Qualifications

  • A master's degree in counseling, social work, or a related field.
  • Appropriate PA licensure (LPC or LCSW).
  • Expertise or special skills working with at least one of the following populations is required: Neurodiverse individuals, individuals with disordered eating patterns, military-affiliated/veteran students, NCAA athletes, and individuals impacted by substance misuse.
  • Ability to develop and foster effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Cultural competency as it relates to working with communities of color; LGBTQ+ individuals; working with people of various abilities, faiths/non-faith, ethnic backgrounds, and other diverse populations.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, belonging, and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A doctoral degree in counseling, social work, or a related field
  • Previous experience providing counseling services to college students in a university counseling center is strongly preferred.
Supplemental Information

CPS is open Monday - Friday and some evening availability is required for this position. Opportunities to participate in weekend campus events may also be available. In accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement, performance review and evaluation of faculty is based on fulfillment of professional responsibilities, continuing scholarly growth, and service.
