Overview
As a Tractor Product Development Machinist, you will oversee machining & fabrication of components in support of Large & Compact Tractor vehicles & related sub-systems. The role will conduct specialized tasks to support activities for current & new product development which will ensure that CNH Industrial products meet customers' needs.
Responsibilities
Operate machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, drill presses, band saws, and grinders to produce precision parts based on specifications of engineering drawings or own conceptual design
Perform oxyacetylene cutting processes via hand torch or plasma cutting systems.
Collaborate with design & test engineers on complex drawings & models to analyze & evaluate overall manufacturability of prototype components in a production environment; provide recommendations for manufacturability if needed
Communicate highly technical information, both verbal & written to engineering staff through discussions, email, & PIR.
Conceptualize, plan, & execute facility related fabrication projects brought forth by product validation management & engineering.
Oversee machining & fabrication projects by analyzing work orders, prints, and completed assemblies to drive overall requirements. This may include:
Studying material properties; analyzing cost & procuring correct materials
Projecting labor requirements for the project
Determining proper machining techniques; strategy for assembly
Analyzing & proposing any specialty tools that are needed for completion
Collaborating closely with the resident welder on aligning overall duties for completion of a fabrication project requiring both disciplines
Identify to management if particular components must be outsourced due to capability limitations.
Document work completed, materials, & techniques used in work order after project completion
Operate heavy equipment such as tractors, wheel loaders, forklifts, etc. for material handling purposes as well as test yard maintenance.
Coordinate & perform preventative maintenance activities on all equipment in AGPV machine shop.
Conduct repairs/part installations on prototype & current production agriculture equipment as needed.
Qualifications
Experience & technical knowledge of heavy duty off-road equipment
Ability to operate heavy equipment such as tractors, wheel loaders, forklifts, etc.
Working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, & electrical systems
Experience using large hand & power tools
Ability to use overhead cranes for moving large tractor substructures & components
Excellent written & verbal communication skills required
An enhanced attention to detail
Requirements:
Associates Degree or equivalent from two year college or technical school; or a minimum 5 years related experience
Acquired knowledge to read & interpret technical engineering documents & drawings
