Job Title: UBL Programmer

Salary Range: $90,000 - $120,000

About: The UBL Programmer is primarily responsible for the maintenance and administration of the MRP system running under U/BL (Universal Business Language) on the Windows server at 192.168.175.11. This system, originally created in Data General Business BASIC and sometimes referred to as "Dynamic" or "SuperDOS", is crucial for the organization's operations. The role involves ensuring the smooth functioning of the MRP system, managing data files and directories, and implementing necessary updates and enhancements.

Duties:

• Perform care and maintenance of the MRP system, including routine checks, updates, and troubleshooting.
• Manage data files and directories within the MRP system, ensuring proper organization and accessibility.
• Implement and maintain backups and disaster recovery procedures for critical data.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and address system requirements and issues.
• Periodically evaluate and clean up the system's working folder, removing temporary files and unnecessary clutter.
• Monitor and evaluate system performance, identifying and resolving bottlenecks or issues.
• Conduct periodic evaluations and cleanup of program error files, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes.
• Manage user accounts and permissions within the MRP system, ensuring appropriate access levels and security.
• Assist in the addition of new hostnames and users, as well as the removal of obsolete ones, following established procedures.
• Monitor and maintain index files, ensuring efficient data access and storage.
• Coordinate with development teams for system enhancements and modifications, following established procedures for testing and deployment.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Proven experience in system administration, particularly with MRP systems.
• Strong understanding of Data General Business BASIC and U/BL platform.
• Familiarity with Windows server environments and basic networking concepts.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
• Experience with data management and backup procedures.
• Knowledge of index sequential access methods (ISAM) and b-tree structures is a plus.
