Title:  UI/UX Designer

Reports to:  Director of Technology Platforms

Location: Anywhere in US

 

Job Summary

This role is a key contributor to our online platform team. The UI/UX designer will work cross-functionally to create delightful online experiences that help site users achieve specific goals as part of the Leader in Me process. You will start with seeking a deep understanding of users’ goals and behavior based on data and the purposes of the product. You will use that data to build user stories including identifying pain points, opportunities to simplify, and opportunities to delight. You will collaborate with others on how to organize and present features and content on the site to support user flows. Using analytical skills and creative skills simultaneously you will develop mockups and working prototypes for revision and ratification. You will work within a design system to implement intuitive, clean, and appealing user interactions.  You will provide guidance to technical and business team members on best practice guidelines related to UI/UX enhancement and recommend prioritization of features on the site.

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Gather and evaluate user requirements in collaboration with product managers, and other stakeholders
  • Illustrate design ideas using storyboards, process flows, and sitemaps
  • Develop and maintain a design system that includes graphics for user interface elements, like menus, tabs, and widgets
  • Develop UI mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how features look and function 
  • Create original graphic designs (e.g. images, sketches, and tables)
  • Identify and troubleshoot UX problems (e.g. responsiveness)
  • Conduct layout adjustments based on user feedback
  • Adhere to style standards on fonts, colors, and images


  • 4-year college degree in Design, Computer Science, information systems, or related field
  • Proven work experience as a UI/UX Designer or similar role for both web and mobile
  • Portfolio of design projects
  • Expertise with wireframe tools
  • Up-to-date knowledge of design software like Figma, Sketch, InVision, Adobe Creative Suite, Zeplin, OmniGraffle, etc.
  • Ability to understand business metrics and translate company goals and objectives into digital experiences 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to communicate ideas to product managers and other stakeholders
  • Problem-solving skills to determine solutions to user interface challenges
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team
  • Attention to detail and mastery of information design
  • A passion for creating technology interactions that help real people do great things 
  • Ability to interpret data to understand the goals (or jobs to be done) of site users
  • Excellent visual communication skills as well as interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Proven record of collaboration with teammates and excellent internal and external customer service
  • Detail-oriented with excellent analytical, research, and organizational skills
  • Capable of performing in a fast-paced environment focused on  measurable results
  • Must be able to explain technical concepts and procedures to non-technical users
