Schedule: 7:00- 7:00, Days of the week vary with every other weekend rotation.

Location: NGMC Gainesville Medical ICU III S5E

Department Overview:

S5E Medical Intensive Care Unit III (MICU III) is a 34-bed critical care unit that provides comprehensive care requiring intense monitoring and nursing care.

As a critical care unit, care is provided for a wide variety of illnesses, including but not limited to:

  • COVID-19 positive patients and symptomatic persons under investigation (PUI)
  • Respiratory failure
  • Hemodynamically unstable patients requiring invasive monitoring and/or close observation
  • Pneumonia

Therapies in the MICU may include peritoneal dialysis, hemodialysis, continuous renal replacement therapy, and conventional ventilation support. Monitoring includes central venous pressure, pulmonary artery, arterial line, electrocardiogram, pulse oximetry, and apnea monitoring.

Job Summary:

Provides clerical support for a nursing unit(s). Prepares and maintains records for the unit and serves as a facilitator for all communications. The unit secretary functions under the direction of the charge nurse. This position will communicate with patients in the adolescent, adult, and geriatric age groups. Employee performs duties in accordance with population specific guidelines and adhere to National Patient Safety Goals as outlines in policy and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association
  • Previous clerical or administrative preferred but not required
